As a mother, and someone who came from a large family in which caregiving is rooted deep in my culture, I always wanted to take caregiving as a career and improve along that pathway.
I like to entertain, converse, and read aloud to keep my patients or resident's alert. I also like to run errands and do weekly grocery shopping for them.
In 2015 I started giving care to a couple. The wife pre-deceased the husband whom I continue to take care of. It has been 7 years now and counting, the children of this patient no longer consider me as a caregiver, but a family member because (according to them) of the 5-star care that I give to their dad. This is my personal achievement that I am most proud of in my career as a care giver.
