I graduated college in 2013. I have been in healthcare for over 20 years what got me started in 1992 when my son was born with a disability. I knew a little while after he was born that i had a love for caring for people. After being a home health aid for a year i knew i wanted to expand my horizon's so i did. I became a certified nursing assistant working with the elderly in 2007. I really enjoy being a caregiver, I currently work with developmental and disability behavioral patients. What I enjoy most about what I do is that I learn a lot from my patients everyday . Even though I'm working to help them achieve their daily living needs, health and activities. They teach me to be a better person, develop patience, knowledge and a sense of purpose. Knowing that I can help make a difference in someone's life is very rewarding . I'm a strong believer, that it takes a village and you can learn a lot from anyone.

I have worked in mental Health over 15 years. I have a BS in Community Mental Health and two years ago I semi retired. I have worked as a caregiver part-time for over 15 years, private and with agencies. I am SC state certified. I enjoy helping people, good at following orders, and needed task. I like helping others, and I have a great compassion to care for the elderly. I love what I do and it shows in the quality of care I provide. I was 17 years old when I help took care of my aunt who was very ill and when she passed away I knew then I want to take care of others. What I love most of all is helping them to complete their day with what task they have, and making sure they are comfortable and secured. I had a client that had hip surgery and needed physical therapy and I helped them by encouraging and motivating them to keep trying when they may have wanted to give up. The person was able to get back to their normal self after much consistency and determination. That's what made me proud because we did it together.

I became a caregiver to be able to help someone in need as well as putting a smile on their face at the end of the day. I started out with assisting the elderly at the age of twelve and the person I provided care for was my great grandmother. I like the sense of satisfaction, confidence, and accomplishment when caring for people in need along with building new relationships with the client and their families. A personal achievement that I am very proud of is being able to give back to other who are in need. On behalf of myself and my Criminal Justice Association members we did a clothing drive for the Salvation Army we held the drive from April 24-May 1, 2014 we were able to collect lots of clothing for all ages and for females and males along with other household items all for families in need. I am a Criminal Justice major at Strayer University, I belong to the American Criminal Justice Association and I am also the vice president. I am a very outgoing person, I pay very close attention to detail when caring for others. I have been in the nursing field off and on for about twelve years if not longer.
