When someone I am caring for is successful in achieving a goal, that spells success for everyone. I have believed that giving a handup to people who need one is why I'm here and spent most of my working life doing just that. I've been fortunate and believe in giving back, in brief I am client centered. Knowing that some people need a "life coach" to help them achieve a goal, that's what I do. I'm very proud to share a story about a young woman who met "the love of her life" on line. He was from another state, and between her guardian and myself we helped fill in the details and she got to take her first flight to meet her young man who now lives in Vermont and will someday become this young woman's husband.

* What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver. I enjoy interacting and investing time in the clients hobbies and interests. I have given all levels of care, from elderly (including but not limited to Dementia) to disabled, and TBI individuals. I have been a medication technician in several previous postions, as well. * What attracted to you being a caregiver? The diversity of the clientele and the needs they have. I find that I easily connect with the people I work with because I listen and can adapt to each individual and their needs. * What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? Spending quality time and making my clients feel as independent as possible. Such as achieving goals, running an errand, making a meal together or even something small. If it makes them smile and helps them that means the world to me because I assisted in making that happen. * What is a personal achievement you are proud of? My children. My greatest achievement is how well they've grown. Helping them become the people they are. Seeing them progress and having them tell me about how they've used what I have taught them to succeed. I like to inform my clients and their families ahead of time: I have colored hair (currently pink and purple), a nose piercing and modest visible tattoos. I'm happy to wear long sleeves and/or a mask if it makes anyone uncomfortable. My pay is definitely flexible. The app would not allow me to leave it blank. I possess a high level of attention to detail as well as a willingness to do what needs to be done. I always go above and beyond my scope of practice to help my clients achieve the maximum level of independence while acting as a supplement to their abilities. In my opinion, assisting with activities of daily living goes well above and beyond just personal hygiene and meal prep. It means helping the client stay engaged in the community as desired. Getting out and continuing to be active as able. I excel with clients and families that are looking for high quality care as well as compassion and drive to achieve. I like to push for whats possible and work well with a family and care team that is actively involved with day to day on goings and encourages client to maintain maximum health and independence regardless of affliction or disability. I'm a very compassionate person with a big heart, I love all people and love being around people. What attracted me to being a caregiver is when I took care of my grandma after she broke her neck. She needed me the most and I was there. I enjoy making people smile, and laugh and being there for people in their time of need! My personal achievement is when I learned how to help my grandmother change her IV medicine ball! I was able to help her so much more when I finally learned how to do it.

I love that being a caregiver means that everyday you know you have done everything in your hands to help other people and make a difference. One personal experience that I am proud of was when employed in a nursing home. I had been caring for a sweet women who was at end of life and had the most amazing family. I had a special connection with this women and eventually the family. I went out of my way something others didn't do to make not only my patient but the family comfortable. When her final days came, the family went out of there way to show there appreciation and love towards me and my loving, caring self. I hear from this family often years later, with continuous thank you, and updates. I also am very proud to say I was accepted into nursing school for this fall, which I look forward to. I can't wait to further my education and knowledge to be able to better care for others lives.

I am a people person by nature. I love getting to know people and the opportunity to be privileged enough to help care for those in need is something I thoroughly enjoy! I am attending nursing school and have a wealth of knowledge and experience.

I have always been very giving and nurturing by nature. Helping people has been my calling since a very young age. I find a great deal of satisfaction in making someone's life happier. Providing care to those in need is my passion.

I've been a caregiver since I was 18 years old. I took care of people with special needs. I started nursing school when I was 20 years old. I graduated when I was 24 years old. I was a nurse for 15 years and then my grandmother got sick and I became her caregiver. I believe a caregiver is there to do anything for the person that they care for. Anything to put a smile on their face. I've taken care of babies with trachs. I've taken care of seniors with dementia. And I've also learned that you take care of the person and the family.

I genuinely care about people of all ages and they are able to recognize my level of compassion right away. I have given care to several elderly people within the last few years, and I love to listen to their stories. They have wisdom that can only be gained by living a long life, so it is quite fascinating to me to learn from them by listening to them. Even though a few clients have been quite grumpy with other caregivers, I am often able to bring out their sense of humor by making it all about them--doing things they like and want to do. I have also worked with several disabled adults and children, so my degree in education comes in handy helping them learn new ways to do things. My background in psychology also comes in handy, because it gives me a way to understand the emotional ups and downs of being elderly and/or different abilities. I am also a very patient person when it comes to working with people with special needs. I do not automatically do things for my clients if they can do it for themselves, because often the task will allow them a form of physical therapy. I am very adept at giving praise and encouragement for keeping active and busy. I get as much out of being a caregiver as I do giving, because it helps me to feel good about myself.
