When I became a caregiver I was assisting my grand parents because, I knew that they needed help with certain situations until things have got better. A great caregiver goes above and beyond unknowingly , its second nature for them to give it their best at everything, .....all the time......from their dress code to how they talk and the small stuff washing dishes and sweeping , its all done with respect and integrity. This is me and how I live every day ,it comes off easy when I work because its a learned way of living. Years ago I was working in a facility with 24 people to care for and I couldn't give the proper care , unable to stretch my self as far as the needs went so I made a decision to do it on my own, so I could work in the homes and give quality care 1 person at a time. The best part of assisting others is the joy of relief we bring to their lives, its more than a paycheck could ever offer, being able to comfort, gain trust, and to be apart of their day and adding a joke or a smile is an experience all should feel at some point in life.
