At the group home I work at, I am attacked weekly by a resident with anger issues, I have cleaned up every mess you can think of and yet I continue to come back every single day working 10 hour shifts on weekends. I can surely handle and assist in whatever you or your loved one needs. I'm a happy sociable person and can defiantly handle the punches that are thrown at me.

Hi! I'm Samantha! I love being a caregiver because it gives me purpose and allows me to help others and be of service while making a living. I currently work in a memory care facility in Sacramento, CA and will be moving to Seattle WA in March or early April! I have been at this facility since April 2015 and before that I was a private caregiver in 2 homes for a little over 2 years total. I take care of 11-15 patients a day depending on staffing, so I am a great multitasker! I am extremely experienced with all types and stages of dementia (including Alzheimer's) from mild cognitive impairment to highly advanced cases. I have a passion for elderly people and truly love building new friendships and bonds with my patients as well as their families. When I first meet my future client(s) and family we get to know each other quickly. I am a relaxed easy going person who likes to make the day fun and interesting but yet work productivly while serving your family member (s). Having to re-enter the workforce after raising three daughters and graduating from college led me on a search for a career that fed my soul while serving others. I became a caregiver because a friend at church suggested it and I found it was a perfect fit. What I like most about care giving is that it is multi- faceted work. It not just about the everyday tasks it's about relationships, relating, observing and thinking creatively as to how to meet a special need, hope or want. Its about bringing my whole self into another's life and finding out what they need and then working to make it happen. Recently I was able to take a mother (Alzheimer's) and son (physical disabilities) out to Walmart to do Christmas shopping. It was a great day. The son enjoyed the day and had a great sense of accomplishment and the mom had a chance to see her son realize a goal. They both thanked me in the car on the way home and were so happy. This gave me a great sense of accomplishment as neither if them wanted to venture out much for the first few months. Now, after a year with them we plan out the day and include at least one fun adventure each week. This expands their world, abilities and enhances their lives. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I feel honored to be caring for family loved one's. Taking care of people is my passion being the reason why I am pursuing the career as a paramedic. When I was 18 I became a Highway Patrol Explorer and competed in competitions against other explorers from different units throughout California. My group's turn was up for the CSI crime scene evaluation. Never were we prepared for the competitions and this was our first with no practice before. I chose to be the lead investigator and chose everyone's position for the scene. My group placed first against all other regions that evaluated the same scene. I am proud because we were given something we had no practice of, I stepped up and was the leader, and we did succeed.

Hello, My name is Emily Monnier. I am currently attending California State University, Sacramento. I am majoring in Gerontology and will graduate with my Bachelors degree in Fall of 2019. I am really excited to be working the the field of gerontology because I love helping others. I have field training working with senior facilities in my community such as Eskaton and The Chateau. I am also a current hospice volunteer and will be completing my internship at Bristol Hospice. I strive to create a healthy and safe environment for all of my clients. I focus most on quality of life as a caregiver. I am most proud of my volunteer hours by giving back to the community. I look forward to working with clients, family, and care teams.

I currently work at a memory care center where I work with up to 25 residents at a time, who have various needs, assisting them with their daily lives. I am looking for a second income to help pay for my schooling so I can get my nursing degree.
