Hello there! I am Calista a stay at home mamma to my one hear old daughter! I stayed with my great grandpa over the last few years before he passed last christmas. I was like a companion to him, we played card games, ate lunches together, watched movies, and sometimes just walked down to the lake to just look at the beautiful view in silence. I would love to get back into it again!

I previously cared for my grandmother when she lived with us. I was a child caring for her until I was maybe in high school. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. So being able to care for the elderly with the same disease or similar hits home and really brings warmth to my heart. Knowing I am making their lives easy for them to live day to day, hearing the thank you'd and I appreciate you, humbles me and makes me feel I'm doing a good deed and also being there for them at the last stages of their life. I wanted to make a difference in the lives of people who wanted to have independence and just needed a little help to get their day started. My mom use to tell me that I had a heart that cares for people and that I was cut out to do this kind of work. I like most about caregiving is putting a smile on one's face, I like it when I was working at Kaiser Vallejo through a nursing registry and they would specifically ask for me through all the hard work and compliments I received as a caregiver. I remember one personal achievement when I worked in Rehabilitation there was a patient there who had Guillain-Barre syndrome this is acute inflammation of many nerves and caused the patient to lose all motor and sensory to his lower extremities. This brought a brief of sadness to me as I watched him slowly try to give on life he was a Doctor of Social Work who have a full life with a wife and four beautiful daughter the youngest being the age of three months. I was determined to help him get out of the bed I made sure every day that I was on shift that I would make sure he got up and sit in the Wheelchair. I made sure he attended all his therapy classes (Physical/ Occupational) I also took him to the main dining room so the he could talk with other patients that were there who suffered some kind of disability. By doing this it made him more willing to get up and try again if not for himself for his family. One year later with the help of the whole team he was back on his feet with assist
