Hello my name is Brenda. I am 30 years old, married with children. I have always had a big heart especially for caring for people. I started off by working in a daycare setting for various years in California and in Texas. I became very interested in caring for adults when I began helping my good friend that due to a accident they became fully dependent on someone else. From that moment on I loved being able to help. Whether it be cooking meals, helping with medications, bathing and toiletries. I would help in all aspects. When my first child was born I gained a lot of knowledge in the medical field. I had to since my daughter was special needs and fully depended on me to be her voice and sounding board to advocate as best as I could for her. I became very knowledgeable with many needs and how to operate different machines. From feeding tubes, injections, cpap, bipap, checking O2 stats and knowing when to use oxygen and many various other machines. I love being able to help and expand my knowledge by caring for someone that needs me to make their life a little easier. I am a quick and visual learner and I am always up to learn. I more recently began working for a vocational service, you can say I have a soft spot for helping others, where I work with adults and helping them integrate into their community via work or just being out and out of their home. I can say I fell in love with caregiving even more when life threw me a curveball and being there for someone was my passion.

Who better to service than our elderly family? I once worked at a senior living community, and I was immediately and lovingly involved as much as possible. Over time, I saw how little the family members came. I ended up becoming family members to some of these beautiful humans. At the time, I was waiting tables in this community and realized that I was in the wrong profession. My 15 years of restaurant experience had taken me into a senior living community and as a result, I was introduced to my new found love: caring for the elderly. I have so much love to give, and have worked with great zeal to truly understand what it means to be compassionate. To me it isn't something that I have and let go of. About 10 years ago one of my family members was in a bad car accident that left him in a sleep coma since then my passion for the medical field grew. I enjoy helping others anyway I can and that is why I love being a caregiver it is such a rewarding feeling knowing your making a difference in someones life, I don't see people as patients because soon they become family to me. A personal achievement is to be in grad school and I still plan to continue to help people along the way.

I am honest, trustworthy, punctual, professional, kind, considerate, bubbly, empathetic, compassionate and gentle. I chose the patient care profession to help people, be it on an ambulance or in the home. I enjoy helping the elderly remain in their homes with grace and dignity. While I am proud of being able to work on an ambulance on a tribal reservation, I am most proud and feel blessed that I was able to care for my own grandmother for the final fifteen years of her life.
