My name is Noxie, I am current lead caregiver/med-tech in San Mateo at a 6 bed facility. I enjoy my job because it allows me to spread care and love and empathy. I miss her greatly, but I know she passed at home, in her bed in a loving environment. I am proud of my achievement with this client because even though there was a language barrier, she and I communicated very well. I was more than a caregiver to her. We became friends; which I find essential with those that we take care of. I always maintained my professional demeanor but I know she appreciated that she could trust me no matter what situation arose. I heard the same stories a million times but each time acted like she was telling me it for the first time. I learned so much from her about history and her native Sicily. Her family were wonderful people and told me I was one of them. What greater honor can any of us ask of ourselves?

I became a caregiver for my grandfather at the age of 11 til I was 17. Caring for a person is the best feeling in the world. I would administer his insulin daily, bathe him, cook, cleanse and change his wound bandages for his toes that were amputated do to diabetes. Through caring for my grandpa I knew this is the job for me. I would like to care for other people's loved ones as my own family member.
