I got back into care-giving last year. I worked for one agency and took care of a 95-year-old woman until she passed away last December and more recently, I also cared for her husband who became ill until hospice took over his care. I work part-time for a Winter Park agency (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and I am seeking additional work on Tuesday and Thursday and perhaps sometimes Saturday. I have a Level II background check as well as CPR training.

I became a Caregiver because my mother felt that it would be the best career to start at my age. She felt that it would be a big help especially because I've been contemplating on getting my nursing degree. I enjoy the feeling of being useful for the elderly and the sick. Being a caregiver for this long has given me a great outlook on life and has helped me understand the struggles of aging but has also given me time to learn sympathy. I am very proud of being given the privilege of being put into Hospice at my age. It is extremely hard to get the respect from Superiors, and most times, in Home-care, you get promoted, but I was thrown in very quickly because of my work ethic. They gave me quick recognition for training at Middlesex Community College. I am a aspiring singer, and guitarist. I am not attending school at the moment but enjoy teaching myself by being studious at home.

Ever since I was a teenager, I've been drawn to elders. I respect and value the contributions they've provided within their lifetime. As a result of my personal and professional experiences, I understand many of the issues that elders may face as they age. In an effort to continue to educate myself with working with older adults, I am completing a course for my designation as a Certified Senior Advisor. Elder advocacy remains and will always be a passion of mine!

My name is Bianca, I'm 24 and a mother of two small children. I've been surrounded by healthcare my whole life with my mother being in the field. Took my first big caretaker role when my grandmother was battling stage 4 COPD. Administering medications, managing oxegyn tanks, and caring for her day and night until she passed on hospice care a year and a half later. I'm a very caring, honest, social individual and with a drive to help others. I recently got my CNA certification and plan to go to school for a nursing degree in the future. I feel for those who cannot do as much for themselves, I'm often called the mother hen of the group. I'm here to brighten the day and if not at least keep your loved one smiling.
