I think I became a caregiver for geriatric patients because I was raised by my grandmother. Although I have 13 years experience caring for my special needs son on life support, I went to nursing school and worked as a Clin tech for the geriatric population while my husband pursued pediatrics. I am most proud of the compliments my patients give me while assisting with ADL. I love my patients and most have expressed the sweetest feelings for me.

Hello, I want to be a caregiver because I enjoy loving and caring for people. I had two children now grown and moved across the country so I have been looking for a rewarding job to care for others the way I cared for my own family. My name is Taylor, I am 20 years old. I currently attend school at the University of Florida. I am on the pre-health track and plan to become a PA. I am about to start my junior year. I love helping people and that is why I plan to do it as a career! I love pets, so pets are never a problem!

I have familiarity with assisting elderly. I traveled for two weeks to Vietnam with my grandmother (65 years old) and grandfather (77 years old). I enjoy listening to others and from a young age could often been seen listening or asking my grandparents questions about their childhood during family gatherings. I used to play piano for a nursing home once a month for an hour and would socialize with individuals before and after performances. This past spring I also spent 20 hours shadowing a geriatric doctor. As an aspiring Physician Assistant, I am excited to use my care giving experience to help me understand my patients in the future. I plan on acquiring my CNA license in August.

I have always had a compassionate heart towards the elder; so I applied myself in school to be able to obtain professional skills to properly take care of people who unfortunately cant do it themselves. The worst thing to hear is that your family member was laying on the floor after falling fours days ago and finally being discovered. It's my privilege to prevent issues like that from happening; which is why I am a caregiver. I am very proud to have serviced the elder and see them progress. I choose to become a caregiver because I care about people, especially those that cannot care for themselves and like the idea of assisting person to become more self sufficient and increasing their dignity and well being. I believe what makes me a great caregiver is my compassion for others in need. I love to help people, but more specifically the elderly. I feel a high percentage of elderly people are most at risk of injury through accidents while taking on activities they are no longer able to safely do themselves. I became a temporary caregiver for a few weeks, staying with my 90 year-old grandmother after she broke her hip. I knew she would be in a lot of pain and grumpy, but it didn't bother me a bit. I always expect people in pain not to feel so good. I am a bright, cheery person and always like easing others with a smile and a good sense of humor. I am currently caring for my father's cousin who needs help with the basics: grocery shopping, laundry and house cleaning, cooking, picking up mail, and ambulatory needs with movement in and out of the wheelchair. I am proud to have helped install her Amerilert system. I believe what makes me a great caregiver is my good listening skills and kindness toward others.

I became a caregiver to help those who are in need of care. I love helping people and I provide service with patience and dignity. On my last job I enjoyed hearing the people that I cared for thank me for going the extra mile that I was not being paid for. Hi! My name is Emily, and I'm a senior studying Psychology at UF. I've been a caregiver in many different capacities since age thirteen when I had my first babysitting job. Since then I've had experience working at a children's daycare, a preschool, a retirement community, an Alzheimer's day center, and a home-health agency that provides services to the elderly. I have loved interacting with the elderly ever since I was a little girl. I discovered this by the joy that I felt when I would go with a group from my church to sing Holiday carols at nursing homes every year. I plan on going to going to graduate school for Applied Behavior Analysis, and my dream is to work as a behavior analyst with the geriatric population.
