I loved what I did, but have recently moved with my family to Brevard County and have decided to find another way to help others. I have been working with a stroke survivor since the summer helping out with shopping, other errands and doctor's appointments. I am a mother of 4, 2 in highschool and 2 grown. I have 4 beautiful grandchildren. I have been a caregiver all my life and enjoy it. I helped my mother to care for my grandfather as he lived with us his last 4 years until he passed at 97. I understand how difficult it can be to trust another with your loved ones especially when they can seem so fragile and vulnerable as they grow older. I became a Caregiver because growing up, I had been around my great grandparents. I learned how dependent they were on other people, and at a young age learned that they require a lot of patience and empathy. They are almost completely dependent on you and to be there for them we have to be strong, patient and caring. My main belief, to treat others the same way you want to be treated allows me to be the best caregiver that I can. I like the feeling of accomplishment after a days work of helping someone. A personal acheivement that I am proud of would be when I had my first nursing aide job. I had struggled the first couple of days, but within weeks I was doing great at my job, I was enjoying it and believe it or not I was training and helping others. This gave me a great sense of self accomplishment. I enjoy helping others, can be very hard-working, flexible, respectful, and honest.

Although my \"resume\" doesn't fit that of a typical caregiver, I would love the opportunity to help you out while visiting with and caring for your loved one. I do not have a lot of experience from a nursing or medical perspective (other than knowing a bit about prescription drugs from my Pharmacy background), but I can cook and do light housekeeping and laundry while visiting with your loved one. I am a compassionate care giver and through personal family experience, understand the toll a disability takes not just on the individual but on their families as well. I think it is very important to help people with disabilities adapt to their environment so that they can make their positive contribution to it. Growing up with a sibling with a disability, it was always tough coming to terms with the fact that they could not perform all the tasks we did or do so with as much ease as we did. Once we understood that, it was a tough balancing act between helping when they faced difficulties and stunting their growth by making things too easy - till this day, we are still working on it. We have made some major progress recently as that sibling got their first job and is able to earn a living. We are making progress and I very happy about that.

I became a caregiver because I believe in the importance of giving back to the community. I am a very compassionate person and I love helping people. I just recently graduated nursing school and I am looking to work as an aide while I study for my nursing boards.

I have always been a person who has empathy. In my 20's I helped shop and be a companion for my mother's friends without anything in return. I have always had the trait of one who has an enormous compassion and high tolerance. If I can put a smile on someone's face, it gives me joy. My personal achievement was about 10 years ago, I left my job i order to care for my father. My mother passed away 24 years ago and felt that I wanted to gave my father the quality of life he deserved.

As an educator and parent, caregiving is deeply rooted in my personality. I enjoy cooking healthy meals, keeping things organized, and finding ways to run a household that make the best use of time while keeping things fun. This summer, I was proud and glad to be able to support my parents as they recovered from multiple surgeries. I think we worked beautifully together as I took on more responsibility while helping them retain their independence and dignity.

I have always held an affinity for the elderly. As a child, I spent much time with my Grandmother and Aunt, and loved visiting the seniors in the neighborhood. I studied Gerontology in college, and have worked with the elderly in many facets. I have been a Nurse's Aide, and an Assistant Activities Director. I have worked as a Counselor in a group home serving mentally ill elders, and within medical settings serving diverse populations. Within the past decade plus, I have provided private care, including my own family members- near and dear to my heart. I understand the needs of our elders (and ourselves.) I understand first hand, how hard it is to watch a loved one decline. I know how physically and emotionally exhausting it can be. It is more than okay to ask for help and to accept that help. Let me extend that hand to you.

I am a teacher, Mom and PCA as well! I provide care for children, elders, postpartum moms and families, and those with other needs! Look forward to hearing from you! Unfortunately, I live a bit far from a lot of my family, and had to watch four of my grandparents age and need help from others when I was unable to be geographically close to them. Some of their care providers became like part of our family, and I was so grateful for their care. Around the same time, I started working for Barton's Angels as a PCA and was assigned a woman around my own grandmother's age, whose loving kids also lived several states away. I loved hearing her stories, being there for her, I felt it was a blessing for me to be in her life. Every client I've had feels like that to me! Right now I'm a substitute teacher, but seeking more permanent work. I'm available for both part time jobs and am also seeking regular employment, preferably school hours as I'm still actively raising 2-3 of my 4 kids, (ages 5-19). I look forward to hearing from you!
