Families in Minnesota, FYI, just a heads up about the new Home care laws: Think twice before hiring a caregiver without the supervision of a licensed agency in Minnesota. The State of Minnesota requires any unlicensed direct caregivers (including Certified Nursing Assistants) to have a license...please be sure to check that this is in place prior to hiring them. Can you please advise whether under the revised home care provider licensing laws, an individual nursing assistant in the state of Minnesota would be required to obtain a home care provider license when the individual is providing home care services on a full time basis and being paid for the care? A home care license is required for an individual nursing assistant or other unlicensed person, if the individual is regularly engaged in the delivery of at least one home care service, directly in a client's home for a fee and is not otherwise exempted or excluded from licensure. I am a care provider of 15 years and an emergency medical technician since 2011. I am currently in school for nursing thus nurturing and caring for others is my life. I enjoy meeting and getting to know the people I have come in contact with in this field; and find it most fulfilling when I can make theirs as well as their families life a lot easier.

Hello! Let me tell you a little about myself. My greatest strength is empathy. I believe this trait helps me be great caregiver, because I can feel what it is like to be in someone else's shoes. I am caring , compassionate and considerate. My corporate career was in Human Resources, a field that was not a good fit for someone who is sensitive and empathetic to peoples needs. I left this career to be home with my two kids, and to care for children in my home while their parents are at work. Caring for children in my home has been wonderfully fulfilling, but I am now looking to find employment outside of the home, in a position where I can provide quality and compassionate care.

I am 28 years old and I have been caregiver for 8+ years. I decided to become a caregiver after caring for my own grandmother that suffered from Dementia until her passing in 2012. I enjoy being a caregiver because it gives me an opportunity to use my skills and nurturing nature to make a difference in peoples lives and be a blessing. I am a certified Home Health Aide and certified in CPR, medication administration, First Aid, domestic violence and clients with developmental disabilities. My objective in life is to become a registered pediatric nurse.

I feel worthwhile and that I am making a difference.Before I started college I worked in daycare.I received a lot of joy helping the children to overcome obstacles. I graduated from the University of Texas and received my BSN. I worked at St. Lukes in the ICU's. I took care of clients with all kinds of problems.I also worked on the transplant unit at ST. Luke's. I transferred to M,D. Anderson Hospital where I was the evening charge nurse. Our clients had a variety of cancers.After 18 months I transferred to a private oncology office. I dealt with newly diagnosed patients.I taught them about their disease, I mixed and administered chemotherapy. The doctors I worked for were also hematologist. We treated a number of AIDS patients.I worked extensively with the families.When the patients disease was no longer treatable I Placed them on Hospice.My children were young and I decided to stay home with them. I eventually went back to school and became a Texas Certified teacher. I was certified to teach grades 4-8th and special education. I taught in public schools and started tutoring privately. I then started to take care of clients that needed my help physically.

For as long as I can remember, my peers and teachers have deemed me a very outgoing, sociable, and eccentric person. I am also very well adapted and can pick up on things quickly. I work very well with different people from all walks of life, and a strong suit of mine is communication. I work pretty well under stress and can maneuver productively and stay above the pressure that may come with a rush. I can multitask and juggle many things at once. I value the satisfaction and experience of the people. If there is anything I can do to elevate a customer or a client's experience I won't hesitate! I grew up around a large family as the oldest where I cared for cooked, cleaned, cared for, and assisted those around me

I decided to become a caregiver because it is such a rewarding job to be able to help others in need. Creating connections while being able to brighten someone's day through the simplest actions is a reward in itself. Working as a caregiver provides satisfaction to both the caregiver and the person receiving the care which portrays the importance of the job. As I have had previous experience working in a nursing home, I felt as though I had 40 friends around be instead of residents to take care of. As I went off to college I kept in touch with many of the residents through written letters and phone calls. I claim that experience an accomplishment because I was able to create a friendly relationship rather than job acquaintances. I graduated in 2014 from Mason City High School in northern Iowa with a 3.89 GPA. I was part of the national honor society, silver chord volunteer program, homecoming court, gymnastics, and best buddies program. I am now a freshman at the University of St. Thomas with a major in biology. I will be living up in St. Paul over the summer and would love to work as a CNA! I also will be volunteering throughout the week and The Children's Hospital and Clinics of MN.

I started this job four years ago when my older brother got sicked..he asked me to come over to helped him for his everyday routine...at first I was really of disliking this job but asdays passedby and when my brother finally took by the lord above..i realized that not all people has the ability to do this kind of job...I am blessed to have compassion and patience and to be able to understand their situation while they are dealing with emotional stress.to give comport especially to the older people is something I really appreciated...im doin this job to enhance my god given ability and the same time as my financial resources...
