Hello. My name is Kara and I am over 45 years old. I entered the caregiving/nursing world when my Son was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 3. After several years and many more battles my interest in nursing & caregiving grew. I was unable to finish nursing school due to my sons many battles with leukemia (including 2 BMT's) but through it I obtained so much knowledge from taking care of him and going to school. I have cared for many people with many different needs and I easily adapt to new patients and their specific needs. I very much find peace in helping others & maintaining as much normalcy/independence as possible for them. Along with some laughs & smiles. I have several references that can be contacted as well.

In my early 20's I was in nursing school and worked in a nursing home and a couple hospitals in Columbus Ohio. When I was caregiving I particularly liked working with Alzheimer and Dementia patients, I found that people inflicted with these disease's need to preform normal everyday activities in order to remain comfortable and I am more than willing to help. I started as a Candy Striper when I was 12. I spent my life being told I was an old soul in a young body. Guess that's what draws seniors to me. There's nothing any more rewarding than watching your client smile and laugh! There's nothing anymore hurtful than not being able to help a client when you know and see their in pain or hurting. As we age and can no longer drive someone has to be the bad guy and take driving away. It's so hard to take that independence away from someone. I prefer to be the bad guy I'm not the love one. No need in the client being upset with his loved ones. I always tell them from now on you have a chauffeur. I believe you treat people the way you would want to be treated!!
