Hello. My name is Kara and I am over 45 years old. I entered the caregiving/nursing world when my Son was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 3. After several years and many more battles my interest in nursing & caregiving grew. I was unable to finish nursing school due to my sons many battles with leukemia (including 2 BMT's) but through it I obtained so much knowledge from taking care of him and going to school. I have cared for many people with many different needs and I easily adapt to new patients and their specific needs. I very much find peace in helping others & maintaining as much normalcy/independence as possible for them. Along with some laughs & smiles. I have several references that can be contacted as well.

Hello! My name is Samantha (Sam) and I am a scientists who would like to get back into care giving. In my early 20's I was in nursing school and worked in a nursing home and a couple hospitals in Columbus Ohio. When I was caregiving I particularly liked working with Alzheimer and Dementia patients, I found that people inflicted with these disease's need to preform normal everyday activities in order to remain comfortable and I am more than willing to help. I enjoy helping with personal care, picking up around the house, and helping prepare meals. The personal achievement that I am most proud of is, in one year I will be the first in my family to get a bachelors degree.

What makes me a great caregiver is a few things 1) This is a true calling that I am gifted with. I am a great listener and patient with people in general. I spent time as a young girl around my Grandmother which taught me a lot. I was well trained in companionship and wasn't even aware. I have plenty of experience from my past. The rest just came natural. What i like most about being a caregiver is helping those that can't help themselves. This field has given me a sense of purpose. One thing that i am most proud to say is that I am current with my CPR and First aid training, as well as fully vaccinated. Not because my job requires it but because I want to be safe and keep the ones I care for safe in every way.

I have been on the receiving end of healthcare during times when the care wasn't so great and I will never forget how that made me feel. I vowed to myself that I would never be responsible for causing that hopeless feeling in others. My patients are individuals, with individual needs. Too often providers get wrapped up in the day to day schedule and forget that what is routine to us is not routine to the patient. Seeing my patients smile during their weakest moments (literally) lets me know I am doing my job well. Elderly people don't necessarily want to be placed in a nursing home.
