Hello, my name is Kimberly Aristy. I am a caregiver at Country Meadows Retirement Home. I started out in dining and moved my way over to personal care. It was one of the best decisions in my life because I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I am currently in school for nursing at HACC. I would like to provide all my care, love, experience, and knowledge into helping elders for as long as possible. Each person comes with their own stories of how they grew up in times much more different than the current millennium. Being able to help someone who treats you like family is a beautiful blessing. I have been a caregiver for almost a year and I have learned a lot from the residents. Being able to care for at least 50 or more residents with each of them being unique and wanting different forms of help and attention definitely helps me take care of other people or elders within the same manner.

I have cared for my great grandmother before she passed away. She had dementia, and near the end she was always sick. I found that I loved it so much so I decided to become a Nurse Aide. I am in school to become certified and I go to get tested so I can get my state certification in the beginning of July!

Nursing has always been a passion of mine, ever since I was real little. I am currently in school getting my RN, and should have that within the next 2-3 year. Hello! My name is Grace and I am currently a Part-time CNA at Messiah Lifeways. I am a mother to a 6 month old little boy, and a wife. I am looking for Part-time side work in the mornings or days that I don't already work at Messiah. I absolutely adore caregiving and I love to make personal relationships with all my residents and really get to bond and get to know them.

I am a great caregiver because I put myself in my patients situation, try my best to make them as comfortable as I can and treat them as if they are family. I became a caregiver because I've always loved helping people, I feel as if my hands were meant to heal. I love being a care giver, the most rewarding thing is to watch the patient leave our facility (recently employed at an LTACH) and return back to there normal lives. My grandmother lost a limb due to diabetes, and had other health issues that required assistance, and even though I was young I really enjoyed helping her. I guess what makes me a great caregiver is that I see the patient as a person not a job to get done.I was raised to treat people with respect and be understanding that we're not all the same. I know the little things matter to people when it comes to earning their trust.I always try to offer choices and ask what ppl's preferences are and accommodate them the best I can so they know I see them as a person.I don't get frustrated when people are picky and want things done their way because it's their care and they deserve to feel they have some control over it. This seems like basic common sense when providing care but having been doing this job for 15yrs in several facilities I have not seen very many CNA's that see their patients as a person and treat them as such.Sadly most patients just get used to being treated as a chore and learn to consider an aide that serves their basic needs a great aide because some don't even do that.
