I have had my certification as cna since August 2006. Been working at same nursing home since December 2006. I have lived in center past 23 years at same resident.

I love caring for people in the being of assistance to their families . I became a caregiver over 20 years ago and has brought me much happiness and personal fulfillment .I have had the pleasure of being a part of numerous families and the joy of knowing that I've made someone's life a little better.

I have a genuine love for what I do. I not only provide care, but companionship, and understanding of disease processes. I take the time to educate the patient and family, until their concerns are understood. I'm patient and tolerant. My greatest personal achievements are so many, I've been honored who's who in school as well as who's who among working professionals, VFW voice of democracy (public speaking), and numerous State awards in school competitions. I'm also a Music and Psychology major and CCNA ( Cisco networking ) certified.... computers. I guess I'm the Jill of all trades. Lol. My name is Angela I am 34 yrs old, I'm an honest, christian girl. I'm a hard worker,easy going and patient and loyal. I became interested in being a caregiver while taking the CNA program for extra points to go towards going to LVN school. I realized how difficult it can be to become an elderly person and lose control of things that you use to have control over or lose senses you used to have. I want to be able to assist and help someone with their activities of daily living to the best of my ability to help the resident enjoy the rest of their life to the fullest. I enjoy being a caregiver because I love getting to know the resident and hearing the stories from their past and i can also go home at the end of a shift knowing I might put a little light in their life even though they maybe having a hard time with their aging process . I have a couple personal achievements that I am proud of, One would be setting my mind and working hard to lose 30lbs in 6 months time and two would be realizing even though I am 34 its never to late to go back to school and do something your passionate about.

Giving up a home and good job was a life changing decision but we felt that God lead us to do what we are doing. We are full time Care Providers foe my sister in law is 75 and suffered a stroke in 2007 that left her paralyzed and bed-ridden. She was in a nursing home from the time of her stroke until the time that we decided to take her out and care for her full time. .I am not only a care provider, I am also a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant and CPR Certified. I became a caregiver to gain more experience working with elderly patients before attending nursing school. I started caregiving for just a job before I realize that elderly people are a joy to work. I enjoy the fact that they have lived a full life and don't mind sharing their wisdom and experiences. I am very gentle and patient with elderly people, because they are not the same as they once were and it can be frustrating for them.
