I've been a CNA for 17 years. I really enjoy doing what I do. I am in nursing school but am taking a break from that at the moment. I consider myself a patient person. Throughout my career I've gotten to know wonderful people that I've cared for and become good friends with some of my patients and their family. A personal achievement I'm proud of is that despite all the barriers in life I can say I've done well. My kids are God fearing good natured kids and I can look back and say it hasn't been too bad. There's been more good than bad.

I have an amazing uplifting personality as soon as I meet someone they can always tell I want to dedicate my time into doing more. About 3 years ago a client was I need of a caregiver that was left the hospital where my mom is a doctor for in home treatment due to hospice. My mom informed me about the client that needed care that his family wasn't able or didn't have the time to due with the client. I soon as I met this client I knew this is what I wanted to do for long term. I was a private caregiver to 7 patients. I absolutely loved being able to care for those that actually needed the help. I dedicated my time to get to know all of my clients. I loved the fact I was able to make them feel comfortable with me and the way they lit up every time I came into their home. It has made me realize this is how I want to spend my life. Thank you for choosing me to be apart of your world.

I currently want to change my major to nursing. I was a criminal Justice major but that field is a little too scary for me. I have helped my grandma and sister with diabetes since a young girl. I believe I'm a great caregiver because of all the experiences throughout my fire service career. This was over 25 years which included the rank of Fire Chief in two different cities. You're always working around people serving them and having their best interest in mind. During that time I also workwith a gentleman spending over three years in his home who was diagnosed with PSP. This included feeding showering companionship Total Care spending 24 hours a day in his home. I have also worked in a couple other nursing homes and assisted living facilities as a cook. Once again this allowed me to be around the environment of health care and serving the resident. I've also spent quality time in assisted living and Memory Care Facilities working with all kind of residence for different kind of diagnosis. Every time is allowed me to make a bond with all the residents and make it more than just a job but a place I wanted to be. This has allowed me to understand and realize how important it is to have compassion, patience, and a genuine sincerity as it relates to caregiving and home health. We are the ones who help ensure that all of our residents or people we care for in their homes have the dignity, respect,security and safety that they are entitled to and something I believe all of us need to have I like being a caregiver and a CNA because once again I am able to care for people take care of people, and be a part of their complete care plan. More often than not we may be the only ones left to assist them during this time in their lives I am currently a CNA ( Certified Nurse Aide) through 2021 in Texas my home state and have my CNA certification in 6 other states as well. I have been a caregiver for over 9 years in a variety of settings. I worked in a hospital for 8 years in Med/Surg, IMCU, ICU, and Neurology. During that time I also worked home health taking care of clients with Alzheimer'/ Dementia as well as clients on Hospice. Over the years it has become more apparent with each case what an intricate role a caregiver plays in the care and understanding of a patient. This is why I do what I do. Being able to make an impact in the life of someone else is the biggest reward. I am a very easy learner, hard worker, and flexible. I am currently enrolled in school to become an RN, i enjoy taking care of elderly indivuals and have years of experience working with M.H.M.R individuals. I currently work part-time on weekends only from 11a.m-11p.m so I'm unavailable weekends, however, if i found full-time work that's stable i will be willing to consider taking on the responsibility and letting go of my part-time job.

I became a caregiver because of an experience i had with my brother who lost his two hands in an accident and i automatically started giving care to him as he had no other means to go about his activities.After this experience,i saw myself sympathizing and identifying with people that has physical challenges in taking care of themselves. i felt the need for someone to reach out to them and show them care. I love that I get to know people, work with varieties of people from all walks of life,Learn a lot about them, share their great and sad moments with them and also identify with their weaknesses. i have worked with a lot of physically challenged patients and have achieved a great virtue which is patience in dealing with difficult tasks and also friendliness and trustworthiness in dealing with myself and others.

I feel what would make me a great caregiver is that I already work with clinical patients so I know what it is like to be hands on. I've also worked at a daycare so I know what it's like to be patient with everyone because you never know what they're going through or what they've been through. I am currently going to school for nursing because I took care of my grandparents till the very end. I knew what it felt like if someone mistreated them or how "bothered" they felt if we had to go out of our way. I never feel like someone is a bother because if it was me I would want the help, but by someone so is willingly trying to understand.
