I am 56 year old with nursing background. In the last five years have care for a brain cancer patient and breast cancer patient. No words can be saying watching someone fight for each day to live a full life until time. Love is the most important words that can be said. I have been a caregiver for over 30 years when my daughter and sister needed care during their struggles with cancer. I continued to work throughout the years and am now a Direct Care Professional with the Brenham State Supported Living Center, where we care for individuals with a variety of physical as well as mental limitations.

When I started out being a caregiver my first job were children. When my grandfather took sick and had dementia, I took on caregiving full time. What makes me happy about my job is being able to give someone comfort. Having a piece of mind, giving an individual some parts of their remembered youth. I'm personally proud I get to make the clients that I have had say I was a honest person. Who helped their family when it was needed.

What makes me a great Caregiver is I am my own kind of Caregiver. All Caregivers are not the same,do not operate the same, or communicate the same but what matters is that you combine your own personality with your job and you give it your all and do your best in all that you do. I have always had a passion for caregiving/home health because you are in that persons personal space and you have the opportunity to become attached with them. The hardest part about caregiving is possibly losing that person or seeing that person get hurt because as a caregiver you would want the best for that person and once you become attached you don't ever want to lose them.

I am a dependable person and very caring. I am patient and easy to get along with. I currently work as Special Education teacher and work with student with moderate to severe disabilities. I enjoy helping others and making them feel better. I hope to work with your loved one.

Hello! If you are reading this, first I would like to say it's nice to informally make your acquaintance. I know it can be very hard to find the right caregiver for your loved one. I have a sister with Autism who is low functioning and it was very hard to find a trustworthy caregiver as my parents got older. But I do want to let you know it's possible. If given the chance I can ensure you that your loved one would be treated as if she/he were my own sister. My first job in Home Health Care was when I was 20 years old with a man who had cerebral palsy. Not only was I his caregiver but we became friends through that 3 year experience. And that is what your loved one needs not someone who will just do their duties and go home but someone who is looking to care, to love and to be a friend. Since Home Health Care I have stayed in the education system working with young adults and children with special needs, both with physical and mental disabilities. I have 9 years of professional experience but I have a lifetime of personal experience with my own sister. I can only say so much, but if given the opportunity to work with your loved one I can definitely show you more than I can say it. I am very patient and empathetic towards my clients and everyone around me. For one to be a successful caregiver- you must be patient with your clients and also be able to put yourself in their shoes. I helped my mom raise 4 siblings- I took care of all their personal needs- My grandma came to live With us when she got sick - I was taking care of her. Right then I realized my calling to be a care giver. Being able to help those that cannot help themselves gives me ultimate joy. It is satisfying. Becoming a Caregiver is the most rewarding job I have ever done. If you give me the opportunity, you will not be disappointed.

I've worked with Quadriplegic, paraplegics , patients with ileostomy bags I've worked with Demented patients. patients with mental illness and also patients that require G tube feedings.
