I am 56 year old with nursing background. In the last five years have care for a brain cancer patient and breast cancer patient. No words can be saying watching someone fight for each day to live a full life until time. Love is the most important words that can be said. I have always enjoyed taking care of people, it is a passion. I grew up taking care of my grand mother for like 10years before she passed away. she has always been an inspiration to me. she even told me I will make a great nurse the way I was taking care of her. so I did my CNA and I am working at a nursing home, and I am enjoying it. I know that is my call. I have been working as a Certified Nurse aide/ Certified medication aide for about 7years. I am in a nursing school right now. I have been a caregiver for over 30 years when my daughter and sister needed care during their struggles with cancer. I do things to care for my 81 year old Mother. I have a 17 year old son, a Senior in High School, who has autism, and an eighteen month granddaughter. I have cared for people of all ages. My personal achievement that I am proud of is seeing my son about to graduate and achieve all of his dreams and goals with my assistance ( me nagging him as he says) to do and be anything you want to be despite any disability. All Caregivers are not the same,do not operate the same, or communicate the same but what matters is that you combine your own personality with your job and you give it your all and do your best in all that you do. I have always had a passion for caregiving/home health because you are in that persons personal space and you have the opportunity to become attached with them. The hardest part about caregiving is possibly losing that person or seeing that person get hurt because as a caregiver you would want the best for that person and once you become attached you don't ever want to lose them.

Hello! If you are reading this, first I would like to say it's nice to informally make your acquaintance. I know it can be very hard to find the right caregiver for your loved one. I have a sister with Autism who is low functioning and it was very hard to find a trustworthy caregiver as my parents got older. But I do want to let you know it's possible. If given the chance I can ensure you that your loved one would be treated as if she/he were my own sister. My first job in Home Health Care was when I was 20 years old with a man who had cerebral palsy. Not only was I his caregiver but we became friends through that 3 year experience. And that is what your loved one needs not someone who will just do their duties and go home but someone who is looking to care, to love and to be a friend. Since Home Health Care I have stayed in the education system working with young adults and children with special needs, both with physical and mental disabilities. I have 9 years of professional experience but I have a lifetime of personal experience with my own sister. I can only say so much, but if given the opportunity to work with your loved one I can definitely show you more than I can say it.
