I was working in a financial Institutions about 20 years but in my soul and after I raising my kids I became a caregiver because I have a strong desire to help people in need. I work with a patient who had Parkinson disease , who was very afraid to leave her home and was in a deep depression .I was able to work with her with therapy and love and concern for her and before long her confidence was built back up again; And we went out to many different places together. I am seeking employment as a professional caregiver because of my lifelong desire to help others achieve their goals. I found an outlet for this desire as a caregiver at Community Systems, Inc. I've worked there since 2008, helping supported individuals with intellectual disabilities to achieve their personal outcomes. Two main facets of my time as a caregiver have kept me passionate about this work. The first is helping supported individuals get closer to their desired outcomes. One of the individuals whom I have supported for years has struggled with trusting the staff, and has a history of self-harm behaviors when he grows frustrated with communicating his needs. In my time working there, I have helped him build better communication strategies to the point that he can now let staff know about his needs with verbal or physical signs instead of harming himself. I have also worked with him on trusting the staff by building a relationship with him such that he no longer protests help with basic grooming and other daily tasks. Another supported individual wanted to build relationships in his neighborhood. I helped develop an ISP with him, and over a series of outings and experiences, I've had the joy of watching his happiness as he has developed the neighborhood relationships he desired.
