I've currently have my C.P.R certificate and have worked in skilled facilities and cared for autistic adults and children. I have 25 yrs plus experience caring for seniors.

I love the job that I do . Taking care of my clients is the most important part of my day. We sit and talk about there child hood. Going to work and meeting new people and seeing about them is important to me.

I became a caregiver after watching my step-mother take care of her mother, I wanted to help people both physically and mentally the same way my step-mother did. I like being a caregiver mainly because of the actual part of giving care, whether it be helping somebody get dressed or just spending time with somebody. I enjoy helping people feel as independent as they can while I help them. I am proud that I have been able to grow with this line of work, becoming an assertive, social human being that enjoys giving care to a variety of different people whether they have cancer, a broken hip, or just can't remember how to get dressed for the day. I am interested in becoming a massage therapist and once that happens I hope to stay mainly with elderly people, I enjoy massage and believe it is a great alternative to relieve pain. Also I enjoy reading, writing, nature, animals and I recently started to relearn how to play the guitar.

What I enjoy most is spending time with the patient and getting to know them.

I became a caregiver because I love older ppl. I love the one on one relationship that you can form with them when you are in their homes providing care for them. I am proud of the fact that my clients and even their friends get the opportunity to meet and see the caring side of me even if I really don't get to say much to their friends. I am a mother of two girls, ages 4 and 10. My ten year old even likes to meet my clients and keep them company when I'm not working. I'm very proud that I set a good example for her. Hello my name is Lorena (Pattie) and ive been a caregiver for 33 years. As a young girl i spent time helping my grandmother, it taught me to be sweet kind and gentle, understanding and patient, attentive and helpful, empathy and compassion. Ive worked through agencies, facilities, privately, Hospice, from hourly, 12 hr shifts, overnights and live in. My experience ranges from companionship to working with clients who suffer from Alzheimer's, Cancer, MS, Dementia, stroke, Pneumonia, aspiration Emphysema, COPD, ALS, Diabetes, Heart failure, amputees, Parkinson's, bound and the list goes on.
