Caring, I do my best to make sure I can do what makes people happy. I'm a people person and pleaser. Being a care giver makes my heart happy by helping others. I spent 11 years in the military in which I was honorably discharged at the end of 2012. I completed and received an associate degree in art while serving. I continued my education while being unemployed from the time I was released from the military until April of 2013 and earned a bachelor degree in psychology. A week later I began practical nursing school and graduated top of my class a year later and was rewarded the leadership award. I passed my state board and earned my Practical Nursing license with an IV certification. I have since worked as an admission nurse, hospice nurse, agency nurse, floor nurse, managed a long term care facility, and was a day shift manager as well as a day shift unit supervisor. I recently completed my associate's degree in science in nursing and am waiting to sit for boards for my registered nursing license. I am looking to slowly transition from the facility setting into private duty helping people in their home setting.

I have been a care giver all my life beginning with taking care of my dad when he was at the end stage of life. I dedicated myself to his wellbeing and provided hospice type care for three years. That is where my passion began for caring for the elderly and those who cannot care for themselves. I then began working at a nursing home and gained my CNA, which provided me with greater knowledge of home care for indivuals. I truly care for the person I assist and go the extra mile to make sure they are cared for in a loving and safe manner. I have a unique gift to get along and am able to communicate with many different types of indivuals.

I have been working in an RCF that houses Mental Health clients. I absolutely love my job but seeking more daytime hours. I am licensed as a MA-1, to give insulin, and in First Aid and CPR. In our homes, we are responsible for every aspect of client care (Medicine, Ordering, Charting, Doctors Appointments, Speaking with family, pharmacies, and medical staff, housekeeping and meals). I love life! I am a positive person and believe the glass is half full! I try to infect everyone around me with the ideology that there was a blessing this morning when we woke up. We woke up! I am a home health aide/ Occupational Therapy Assistant. I work for a company as well as private care to help geriatric patients with ADLs, medication management, and mobility. I also help with light household duties. I have experience in different fields such as retirement facilities and nursing homes.

I am one of the most easy going, whole hearted, loving people you will meet. I take full pride in all of my work with my patients/clients, and I have been told by everyone I have cared for that it is my calling. That I have a servants heart. I started caregiving at the age of 19, there was something about it that completely drew me in and once I started there was no stopping because I love it so much. The best things about being a caregiver to me are the smile that lights up the room when I walk in, the happy tears when I doll up a lady after a good shower and make her feel beautiful when she hasn't felt that in a while, and being a part of so many wonderful families that you just cherish those memories for the rest of your life. It's truly a blessing. A personal achievement that I am proud of would be being named Employee of the Year and Month for taking on an entire census of patients by myself when both of my co workers had resigned. It was tough, but I got it done and my whole team through a celebration for me. Being a caregiver has taught me so many wonderful things in life, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I believe I am a great caregiver because I genuinely care for the people I take care of and treat them as if they were my own family. I want them to be happy when they see me and be able to confidently say I take good care of them. A few years ago, I never saw myself doing this type of work whatsoever. I honestly really needed a job and a local nursing home hired me and took me through classes to get certified! I found myself there for over a year and I knew almost everyone by name on all of the halls. I had a special bond with one lady in particular and she always loved seeing me come into her room. She always made sure to tell me how good I'm doing. Overall, just knowing I am helping those who cannot help themselves gives me some sense of purpose and it makes me feel good. You get close to the people you take care of and they become like a grandma or grandpa to you. My favorite part about having a little extra time and sitting down to talk to some of the residents. I'm fascinated by what things were like 50+ years ago and hearing all about their life and experiences. I also enjoy looking at pictures with them. Every single one of them have different quarks and personalities and it's so fun talking to some of them. I am most proud of the way I can confidently say that I take GOOD care of my residents and that I do it for more than just a check. If I can go home with a clear mind and know for sure I did the best of my ability, I know I'm doing something right. I care for them like I would want someone to care for my mom or grandparents.

I am a very caring and outgoing person. I love being a caregiver because I love helping people. I try making the person feel as comfortable as possible, by that I mean getting older is sometimes hard enough, then on top of that not being able to fully care for yourself can be quite discouraging and harder for some to accept, I like to help them and make them feel better about their situation at the same time.The thing I enjoy most about being a caregiver is knowing I can make a difference in someones life.
