I became a caregiver because of my great grandma .she lived to be 110 years old.i helped take care of her. until she passed away. i truly enjoyed taking of her,it was so rewarding, after she passed away i decided to become Cna so can give same loving care to somebody. i love what i do. i have been care giver since 1997.

I have spent the last nine years of my life working in the medical field as a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant, specializing in the Geriatric population. I became a caregiver, to give back. I needed to feel like I made a difference in someone's life. So I always admired senior citizens and they amazed me, so one day I met a senior woman, she was having a yard sale. We met so naturally, we started to talk and then shortly after, I became her live in caregiver. And that is how I started my career as a, Professional Caregiver/ Certified PCA. Threw my eyes I see our seniors as a human guide into all of our futures, they lived a lot of life, survived and endured some of the most troubling times. Most definitely, they are built tough. Currently, I am enrolled in an accelerated nursing program at Roseman University of Health Sciences. I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant throughout Arizona from hospitals and clinical settings to nursing homes, assisted living and home health. I truly have a passion for caring for others and making a difference. I love learning and getting know new people as well as finding at least one thing to make someone who is not feeling so great feel better. School has not always been easy for me because of how expensive it is to go. I worked and went to school full-time throughout my first degree. I am most proud of overcoming my fear of going back to school and pursuing my nursing degree that I will finish by October 2015. Something about me is that I was born and raised in Arizona and I am the youngest of 4 and the only girl. I played banked-track roller derby for Arizona and was awarded Most Valuable Player for 2 games in a row last year.

What makes me a great caregiver is I love people. I take a personal interest in people. I am very caring, hardworking, understanding, patient, and spiritual. I am a humble person who will show your family member the love, respect, and care that they need to help them get better. I will always be there for support, I love making people smile .

I became a caregiver doing respite care while attending school. I started getting jobs by word of mouth and decided to do caregiving full-time. I enjoy caregiving, the clients I meet are all wonderful with tons of stories about their youth and their family. I have compassion for the people I work with, I care about their well being and my experience over the years helps me to be a good companion for each person I am with.

I am a passionate caregiver who loves to help others. I was inspired to become a professional caregiver because of the understanding of the support of families and patients with no real companionship. Going from independent to now dependant on something or someone is not an easy transition.
