I love the idea of giving care to someone who otherwise may be unable to care for themselves. My grandfather needed a caregiver himself when I was much younger and my family was unfortunate to have the worst experiences and I'd like to use this opportunity to make someone's experience a lot better and their lives easier.

I'm a registered nurse with 10 years experience. My background is critical care, post-operative care and prior charge nurse experience in orthopedics/telemetry. I'm a mom of 3 young children. I'm hardworking, organized, attentive to detail and compassionate about providing high quality care with each client I encounter. After years of being at the bedside and witnessing far too many elderly and disabled clients admitted with preventable health ailments- I've decided to transition my career to provide quality care and help my community prevent these cases from happening. I pride myself in honest, genuine care- with the promise to care for your loved one as if they were my own.

Compassion, although it comes naturally, I have continued to cultivate it in my personal and spiritual life. Nothing makes me happier than to know I have in some way made the life of others, more comfortable, bearable, dignified. My first observation of healthcare was in the family setting observing, Mother, and Aunties attend to the needs of those family members who were advanced in age, disabled or in distress just seemed like a natural thing to do. At the age of 14, I volunteered as a "Candystriper." even though I was personally terrified of blood, needles, and that medicinal hospital smell. I love using my education and experience to help clients and their families through difficult times. My proudest moment was successfully completing my Nurses diploma in 1986, graduating from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, on the Dean's list.

I was a nurse in the Philippines and my experience as a caregiver began with taking care of my diabetic aunt. After graduation I took care of several patients in their private homes. As a caregiver I have had the chance to understand the needs of families. I am always present and able to provide around-the-clock care. My main responsibility as a caregiver is to provide assistance with the medical, personal, and emotional needs of the patient. I am skilled at administering medicine according to doctors' orders or simply reminding patients to take their medications. I also assist with activities of daily living - I can help with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, exercising, meal planning, nutrition tracking, transferring from bed to wheelchair, and keeping company. I can also do light housekeeping, prepare meals, and provide emotional care to the family members. Caregivers prevent family members from feeling burnt out. As a caregiver I feel that I have contributed a lot by improving the health conditions of my patients. I find nothing more rewarding than caring for them.

I have over 30 years experience in the practice of both General Nursing and Ophthalmic Nursing having being a Registered Nurse in my country, Nigeria. I'm a self disciplined person having served in the Nigerian Air Force for 30 years with remarkable records. The military service offered me great opportunities to have worked both at home and abroad which enabled me interacted with different people and also appreciated their cultures. That was a valuable experience too as healthcare cannot be successfully and efficiently carried out without caregivers respecting the various cultures of clients. My training and certification in Nursing Aide Assistance further equipped me with necessary skills as a Direct Caregiver. I have been motivated to continue as a caregiver in view of my experience in nursing care practice as mentioned more so that both nursing and caregiving are centered on the patient's healthcare which is aimed at patient or client early recovery back to normal rhythm of life roles. I believe that both my Nursing experience and direct caregiving experience predicated on self discipline are my strong strengths that make me a great caregiver. My professional contributions to client recovery to the extent of them been able to carry out activities of daily living with little or no assistance make me happy and proud for being an effective caregiver.

I became a caregiver because I wanted to help others who were going through life changes and needed care, love and assistance. I believe all individuals deserve a high level of care. Taking care of someone gives me an opportunity to serve. I am proud of the fact that I have learnt to swim as an adult. I love to read and I write poetry.

I am a registered nurse for a year,very caring caregiver, I was a certified nursing assistant for almost 10years. I am actually working at Americare Home health care, visiting patients at their house., doing wound care, supervision, giving medications, teaching patients and family about meds and disease process. I love working with the elderly , I am patient and a good listener. I worked for the past years for some agencies , do ADLs , sometimes as companion. I like to treat others as the same as i will want someone to take care of my love ones.
