I first became a caregiver for my mother after she had a stroke. After she passed away after me taking care of here for 6 years Then I realized how some people don't have anyone to take care of them so here I am to help.

I became a caregiver at a very young age because I have a passion for helping others and wanting others to feel that they matter! Now I am a contracted Home Care Case Manager, and assist clients from within all aspects of home health. Hello My name is Doretta Harden I'm a proud mama of 2 sons age 11 and 13. I'm passionate about understanding the importance in raising not just sons but men of community and they will be husbands one day. For 15 years with out hesitation I knew the importance of making sure my mother had the proper care so I became her caregiver. In doing so I did not know that taking care of my mother would give me purpose, meaning and add value to my life while I was giving her quality of life until I watched her take her very last breath. During those 15 years I was taught by her physical therapist the proper way of transporting her in and out of bed and to and from my vehicle. I would encourage her every day to take a few steps with her walker. I would transport her to all her doctors appointments every three months making sure I was her voice when it became difficult for her to answer questions. I became her power of attorney to I could sign her name when she could no longer do so. I stayed on top of reminding her of her medication while staying in constant communication with her nurse and her health Plan. I helped with bathing, Assisting two and from the bathroom when she could to make sure she was clean, and every evening helping her have put on her adult diaper and every morning changing her depends also making sure that if there were any accidents in the night making sure her bed stayed clean so she did not develop any sores and if so I made sure she got the proper aid to heal her skin. I always made sure her skin stayed hydrated leaving her feeling good and comfortable. I learned in through caregiving the most important job was companionship being by her side every day getting her to activities to buying her favorite snacks, watching her favorite shows whatever was needed to keep my mother in my life. That bond was be companionship for that Im honored that I was able to care for my mother because I was able to be by her side for the last years of her life.

1. I became a caregiver through the inspiration of my late mother. She was in a vegetative state for almost 2 yrs. due to massive stroke. Reinvented myself from working in the corporate world (banking) to moving in the healthcare field. It's a different experience where one found joy and accomplishment working with the elderly. My salary rate is negotiable depending on client's needs. 2. Being a caregiver is very personal to me.. My focus is always the well-being & safety of my client. 3. Being a caregiver entails a lot of patience, compassion and experience to be able to understand every client's specific needs. . I try to keep a balance of everything I do to maintain my physical and psychological well-being. 4. I consider myself as energetic, strong-willed and resourceful. In my former job I was the lead CNA supervising 3 caregivers working 12 hrs. shift 24/7 in our client's own home. My relationship with my client & the family I've worked with has been very pleasant. I have over ten years of experience in caregiving, I'm also a registered RBT I hold my CPR and first aide license. I'm also fully vaccinated and I have a lot of skills in the medical field.

Care giving is something i choose to do out of passion, and dream I love helping older people, just like i love taking care of children too. because I always pray to live longer and old ,so I started by trying to help volunteering weekly because am in to filmmaking,singing and dancing which Is also one of my passion ,but The job comes once a while before i decided to make it a full time job due to my experience with older people, and people with special needs .So what made me a better caregiver is because I care for my clients like they are my own parents and family in a special way.My believe as a caregiver is you need first to love people as you love yourself,then put yourself in their shoes and feel their pains then you will know how it feels that they need more time and care ..

I have experience using the Hoyer lift ,catheter care, trachea care. I have also worked with paraplegic patients. I have experience in transfers, and Companionship.
