I started my journey as a caregiver with my father who had cancer. This snowballed into taking care (at the same time) of my husband who was diagnosed with cancer also. They died a year apart from one other. My experience in caregiving for them is priceless. The lessons I learned are invaluable. After that I moved in with a elderly lady who needed assistance with cleaning, cooking, bathing, doctor appointments, ect. She died three years later. About that time my mother was needing more assistance. I handled her health issues (which were many), cleaning, cooking, entertainment. I cared for her through hospice at my home when the time came. I then for two years worked with a lady who had dementia and type one diabetes. I have a tremendous amount of empathy for senior citizens. They are wonderful people who need companionship and help doing their day to day chores. The older you get, the harder it gets for simple everyday actives, chores. I am compassionate, honest and have a great sense of humor. I would love to get to know you.

I love the variety that my job provides me. I began providing daycare services when I was 16 and was a licensed provider in Anoka county along with being a crisis care provider. I have a valid recent background check and can provide references. I look forward to speaking with you regarding my qualifications. I am a very patient individual and believe that communication is the key to resolving most difficulties in life. I decided to end my 5-year career as a counselor and enter into self-employment as I love working with the very young as well as the elderly and knew there was a real need for families who had difficult to fill hours. I have 4 children of which 2 are military and 2 teens at home. I am a single mom who enjoys nature walks, being involved in the church and living a serene and quiet lifestyle. My decision to become a caregiver came from personal experience. A few years ago my mother became very ill suffering from a disease that caused extreme weekness and rapid onset of dementia. It was fortunate that I could be there to help my Dad take care of her many needs. To give him a break I went to their home almost everyday, I learned firsthand how important the caregiver roll is to a person or family in need. After my mom passed, I became a volunteer at a nearby assisted living senior center and chose to work in a memory care unit. That experience cemented my desire to work in the senior care field. From there I left my career as a Medical Lab Tech and became a caregiver. It has proven to be very rewarding and in some small way brings me closer to my Mom.
