I was too young to remember the story but my aunt says when I was 4 years old, that I comforted and reassured her when she was crying over a breakup with her boyfriend. I believe this was the beginning of my journey to care for others. I majored in Social Work and have had a wonderful 27 year career of working with children, adolescents and the aging. I have worked at UVA hospital where I gained insight into the importance of maintaining good health and how devastating a disease or accident is on one's health and life. I have worked for department of social services and assisted the aging with receiving the services needed to remain in their home or to move into a facility. At this time, I am doing "hands on" care in people's home to assist them with various activities of daily living. My mother was bedridden for many years and I was one of her primary caregivers. I know the burden on family when caring for a loved one and the importance of support. My grandfather lived to be 96 and I was there for him to assist with shopping, meal prep, housekeeping, medication reminders and transportation. I cherish the times that I spent with my mother and grandfather caring for them. I also cherish the support I received from others.

I love to serve people, in general. I feel a special call at this time in my life to serve seniors and I would appreciate the opportunity to share my skills and services helping your family member. I have more than 10 years of experience caring for seniors, including seniors with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. My tasks include light housekeeping, meal preparation and feeding, laundry, bathing and grooming, shopping and errands, escort to appointments/outings and companionship. I am certified as a Personal Care Aide and have completed the Nurse Aide program at the American Red Cross.

I retired early and was a caregiver for a 90 year old woman three days a week for three years. Sorry to say, she passed away recently. I'm very companionate, patient and kind and show empathy when I'm working ... those are the main characteristics I believe anyone must have to work in this field ..... especially compassion. My mother died of cancer and had quite a few aids, that's what inspired me to become an aide and help others that may need help too ! I'm very thankful for the help they provided for my mother and I see how important and great of need that some people may have ... I enjoy being there for others who are in great need . Receiving my CNA LISCENSE and MED TECH LICENSE is one personal achievement that I'm proud of .
