There are many qualities that make one a great caregiver. My qualities are that I try to do my best when working with residents as well as trying to understand them. Aging out does not mean they do not have needs or that they should not be heard, I try to use critical thinking and make every resident as comfortable as possible so their needs are being met. I am an outgoing person I love to help others and exceed my job expectations, I am a carrying person who is easygoing and takes responsibilities as well as the needs of others seriously. I have a grandfather with dementia and this made me want to help others who need an assistant. I have seen the lack of caregivers there is for elders. I love caregiving because it allows me to have a better understanding of what goes on in others' life and I get to be part of people's life making a difference in assisting them or bringing them a smile. I am proud of the person I am and how far I have gotten with my psychology and social work bachelors that I am currently working on.

I am looking for a full time long term live-in position. I am drug free, only drink socially and do NOT do drugs. I will relocate myself upon hire. Here's my short list: I am a 62 year old semi-retired Respiratory Therapist. I have my own vehicles. I am very organized and have lots of experience caring for people. Excellent cook, housekeeper and home organizer. I currently cook, clean and do laundry for my client in addition to his personal care and companionship. My current position is live-in with room and board and $525 per week salary. I work for myself on a cash basis. I lately worked as a live-in caregiver for an 88 year old who recently went into hospice care and has passed away, I currently work as a live-in Resident Assistant at an Adult Family Group Home for developmentally disabled. Prior to that, I was a personal assistant/housekeeper/cook for Racine's Case High School Principal (Wisconsin), until he moved to CA for health issues. Prior to that I was live-in Housekeeper/cook for a professional gay couple in Trevor, WI. I have tons of experience with children, and have a 35 year medical background. Also interested in positions in Ashland County, OH 44805 area and will re-locate for the right position. Please be aware of State Laws regarding live-in domestic care givers hours for work. There are time off requirements. 24 hours a day 7 days per week is not an expectation you should have. It's demanding work and all caregivers need time to recharge. I have had employment in other fields and none make me feel as complete as having someone who needs you, someone who counts on you for anything from complete care to a task as simple as opening a jar. Any way I am able to help gives me satisfaction. I have been through spinal cord surgery, physical therapy, the feeling of helplessness, re-learning tasks, among other things. I have overcome this in all aspects. I use the experiences I encountered in that to better understand the patients I care for. I have been in their position in some instances and I show empathy for all people who have to surrender even a small amount of their independence. I love learning about the lives of my patients as well. I appreciate any wisdom they have to offer me in molding my character to be the best person I can be. I am interested in furthering my education and becoming a male nurse.
