Hi my name is Traci and I've been a caregiver for the elderly and disabled for over 20 years. I've had other jobs but I'm always drawn back to the elderly. I enjoy sitting and chatting with them, they're so full of information..... Like walking dictionaries! HELLO! My career as a caregiver started with a chronically ill father. Throughout my childhood and in my early teens my dad was very ill with diabetes Type 1. When I was 5 years old my dad lost his eyesight. As a preteen I participated in his care helping with blood sugar readings and Insulin injections. When I was able to drive I help out by taking him to doctor's appointments. I went away to college and lived in Florida for a few years and as my dad became progressively worse I moved home. I became increasingly involved in his care as my mother was worn out and had a very full-time job. At that point I decided to change career paths and go to nursing school. I have been in the health field since 2009. I love being in the medical field. I love being able to support someone in need and being able to care for some one in need. I started off as a personal assistant. I went to school for Medical Assistant. Looking to go to school for my LPN this fall. I'm a CNA and I'm Also A PCA. Something that amazes me most about this field are the different lives I'm in. I'm proud of what I do and I make sure my elderly people are fully tooken care of. I'm the reason for many smiles.
