I am a 23 year old girl that is pursuing her career in nursing. I am attending Unitek College for the LVN program. What attracted me to being a caregiver was that I knew that there was a lot of people in need of help and I have always loved caring for people. I started off taking care of kids and then decided to care for the elderly. I love spending time with them and love listening to their past. Just being there for people and being their companion makes me happy.

I have taken care of my three elderly grandparents in their final years with housekeeping, meal prep, shopping, medication reminders and exercise. I have 6 years of work experience. During my six years as a nurse assistance, I worked in a hospital: taking patient vital signs, EKG, emptying drains(Jps), ambulations, critical care, transpositing surgical patients in and out of bed; heart transplant patient, and so on. I have worked with Als patients in home, providing feeding, bed bath, reposition every two hours. I have experience in working with psych patients, Alzheimer, and etc. I'll be a great service to you and your family.

I am a very patient person and i'm always concerned about anyone that I am caring for. I have spent a lot of time caring for small children and some elderly patients within my workplace and home. I am good at cleaning and I don't mind running errands. I have experience in meal prep, cleaning, companionship, and giving medications. I know that everyone has preferences and also that certain things must be done a certain way to ensure the safety of the patient. I do not mind being given specific instructions on how to clean, give medication, and how to best service my client. I also wouldn't mind taking walks with the patients.

Growing up I have always been taught to be nice and caring to everyone. I have also been taught to help anyone that I see needed help, especially older people. As a young kid I was helping my parents taking care of my grandparents assisting them with whatever they need, and that is when I became passionate about helping out the elderly. Until now I enjoy what I do being a caregiver helping and spending my clients or residents. It makes me happy to know they are being and feeling cared for which also makes me happy. I am experience working with assisted living, dementia and alzheimers, and also people who are bed bound. I have never had a dull moment with anyone ive tsken care of. I am really proud of who I became as a person and I am continuing to become better by pursing my nursing degree.

I'm most definitely a "glass is half FULL" guy. My key words are "simplicity," "balance," and "truth." I'm cool vs. hot; chill vs. hyper; sensitive vs. stoic; doer vs. couch potato. I've worked in theatre/performing for about 8 years in Los Angeles. I left show biz and went into marketing. My career was in event marketing. But after many burn out years working in the corporate world I am looking for work that is meaningful and productive, but without the capitalistic stress. I became interested in care giving after taking care of my mom for about 7 years when she came down with congestive heart failure. She lived in my home and I saw the challenges she faced as she grew weaker (just organically) and the many challenges she faced with the health care industry. I wished I could have done more... Eventually she was living in SF Bay Area while I was in Portland, flying down every few weeks to care for her. I know there's a real need for senior assistance. I think it's important to be available to someone. The main thing is to embrace the needs of a senior person, to welcome their need for assistance, and to truly show compassion, empathy, but most importantly respect . What gives me satisfaction is something really selfish actually - and it the feeling like I did my best to make my mentee to feel good and just like normal person. I love being able to care for another person but not show that I'm trying. It's my goal to make others feel welcomed, respected, and as simple (or sophisticated) as anyone else. I'm proud of my volunteer work I did for SOLVE, picking up trash in different Portland neighborhoods and Stumptown Stage Company, where I have participated in painting of every set for the last two years. I am proud that I made time to take care of my mom in her last 3 years. I'm proud of was landing my dream job - international events manager for a manufacturing company; earning my SAG and Actors Equity Memberships.

I have thirty years of experience as a caregiver. I am reliable and responsible. I have received training in CPR and First Aid. I also have studied special education therefore I have knowledge of how to better help and understand people with disabilities.
