I am a experienced caregiver with a tremendous amount of heart and faith in always doing the right thing. I am dependable and honest to a fault. My experience covers a lifetime of caring for individuals in ALFs, hospitals, residential as well as supervising others in the field. Currently, I am a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Florida. My degrees include: Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of South Florida (USF), B.A. in Business Administration and a B.S.W. (Social Work). In the past, I had studied Nursing at Hillsborough Community College (HCC). I am fully capable taking a B/P manually or electronically, Hoyer lift, as well as the usual TPR and weights. I have volunteered with Life Path Hospice from fall 2007 - fall of 2010. -- Currently, I am learning German, Finnish, Italian, Indonesian and know basic Spanish. Also, I have had studied basic Korean, French, Norwegian and Swedish languages for the pure joy of learning. If needed, I can work full-time short term (negotiable), live-in a few days a week, daytime or overnight and have had my second COVID vaccine.

I want to be more like family than someone who just comes to do their job, get their money and goes home. I also am very understanding when it comes to the frustration of many of my patients because I realize that it's not so easy being used to doing everything yourself to now having someone have to do everything for you. One major accomplishment I have had with a previous personal experience is getting my grandma to believe in herself again after suffering from a stroke. Just to see how thankful she was for all of my time spent with her, me being there to know she was eating, building her strength and just being well taken care of in the situation she was in. All of that resulted in her being able to get her back up on her feet and do things on her own so I will always hold that accomplishment close to my heart.

As a caregiver my first approach is always to put the needs of the client first through active listening and demonstration. It's very important the client's needs are heard and also met, because they do have rights and I believe they should be respected. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver, is being able to make a difference in the life of someone else. One of my personal achievements as a caregiver that I am proud of was a client (who was on hospice at the time) told me, how through conversation, and listening, I made what were his last days at the time, a most enjoyable one. It connects to one of the main reasons for me to become a caregiver, because all of my life I have been taking care of people and providing care for others. And allows me to let someone see that just because they're being taken care of, doesn't mean it cant be an enjoyable experience for both you and them.
