Growing up around healthcare and personally having been a healthcare worker for over 10 years now, my compassion to make a difference is never ending. The dedication I have learned from watching my mom work as a nurse and the recognition I have received for the ability to provide emotional and physical support to patients drive me to be the caregiver I am today. I became a caregiver when my great grandmother needed assistance after having her leg amputated. I have found that I always end up learning some kind of life lesson (and that is amazing). I am currently in my 40s and my one and only child has graduated from high school. I am a wife and a daughter. My mother (best friend) currently lives with my husband and I. She will often accompany me on visits and provide companionship while I run errand, clean or cook. This way someone is always with you or your loved one. My mom AKA Joy is truly a joy and can "talk" to anyone and keep them engaged. She really has a gift. She does this just to help and because she truly just loves to talk to people. So in many cases it is a two for one deal.
