My name is Amanda I'm a 23 year old college student well on my way to becoming a nurse. I have always been the type of person to put anyone before myself. I take pride in my job as a CNA. Being a CNA is more then what people say or assume it is. Ive become very attached to patients/clients/residents that i have cared for. You have to have a big heart to be able to a CNA its a very hard job, but to me it isn't just some job. I have been by residents sides from the beginning of their stay to the end. I like to think of anyone i can for as my own family member not just a patient, resident, or client.

I truly enjoy being a caregiver because it allows me to give a part of myself to someone and hopefully brighten their day, even something as simple as a smile. I treasure each client I've been able to work with as I have learned so much from their experiences. My most memorable client and I were able to bond when he discovered that I served in the military. He then was able to share his experience as a POW in WWII with me. I feel that each person has something to offer, sometimes it simply takes someone having the time to sit and hear what they need to communicate through words, song, gesture, facial expression, etc. Allowing someone to still feel needed and of worth is of utmost importance.

I have been a caregiver/companion since 2005. At that time there were no office jobs available as we endured a recession at that time. Since working with the various agencies, I grew to enjoy my work with seniors as their companion or caregiver. Most of them felt the same about me. Presently I have a client in Oak Brook who does not want anyone else as a caregiver and she always buys me coffee 2 or 3 times per week when we visit the cafe. That's very kind of her. My one client that I had for about 4 years, I was able to help her get her childrens book self-published in 2007. She had always wanted to get her book she wrote in 8th grade published, but didn't know how. She was extremely thrilled when it was finally published. It is always very interesting to hear stories and past history from senior clients. They have much to offer if you will only listen.

Dear Family: Hello, my name is Lydia. I am a 45 year old female living in Holladay, Utah with PT availability (8-15/hrs wk) My background includes experience with PT home health care caring for both men & women who needed assistance after having a stroke. I enjoyed providing company, conversation, preparing meals, helping to run errands and administer medications along with creating a safe environment while lifting spirits! I made sure all in my care feel dignified & heard. I have also been a full time nanny caring for children from newborn to 13 years of age. I am incredibly compassionate , kind and thoughtful. Also creative! I love the one on one of this work. It's fun when I can give undivided attention. Whoever I care for becomes like family to me. I am familiar with working with sundown syndrome and near evening when I cared for a women who was confused as to where she lived, when she insisted I take her to her home, I would happily agree and we walked slowly around the block until returning to her house. Every time it did the trick and she recognized her home again! I am very intuitive to people's needs. Also musically inclined and open to providing music therapy!
