My name is Sarah. I love working with this population of clients. I love hearing their stories about my clients life experiences. I helped care for my mom who had memory/dementia issues for 5 years before becoming a caregiver.

Ever since I was a child till the age I was 12 I stayed with my Grandparents. I always liked talking to them and hearing them tell me stories, and given me life lessons. I have always been a people person, I like to have conversations with people a lot. I care about people's emotions and take time to see that people around me are doing great. I like to make sure people are safe and comfortable by communicating with them. I like helping people out when they are in need. Back in my hometown I use to take care of my Grandparents a lot by cooking for them and going to grocery shopping at the market and taking Care of their every need. I like making them laugh whenever they feel down. I have always liked taking care of people, I took care of my grandparents even at a younger age. When I grew up I started taking babysitting and nannying job around me. I got a job at a nursing home in which I was a server. I served food to the patients and clean the kitchen. I have always wanted to take care of people. In high school I took an early childhood class, in that class I took care of little children by teaching them reading, weather, arts, science, etc. I love the impact I have on the people I see around me. It is good to have a good impact on other people, it takes patient's tolerance and a great amount of care and I enjoy doing that. It gives me joy when the people around me are safe and happy. I graduate at Technology Center of DuPage with a certificate and early childhood.

As an ambitious individual I am seeking a position that will allow me to utilize my skills as well as the opportunity to gain the experience that will help me develop my career path. I enjoy meeting new people and helping them better their daily living activities. A personal achievement that I'm proud of is pursuing my education, regardless of many obstacles I've had in my life.

I grew up going to work with my mother as she was a caregiver for the angel network. I learned the importance of patience, empathy and integrity. Caregiving is not always easy, if your caregiver doesn't appreciate this field; in my opinion your senior will not be properly Cared for. I enjoy finding a way to help my senior accomplish a task without making them feel like less of a person or embarrassed. Your loved one should always feel respected, heard, and safe. My approach to aggression, sadness, confusion, etc. is meeting your loved ones emotions and needs on their level. I quickly assess the problem and get back to a trusting common ground. Sometimes all they want Is their feelings acknowledged. This ensures they feel equal and helps keep their sense of dignity. A caretakers most important quality should be compassion and focus. When I walk through your door my phone is off and I'm ready for the day. I will treat your loved one as if she/he were my own family. I have been doing this for several years now and I've witnessed many different styles of care. Positive attitude is key. Keeping my calm helps your loved one to trust me. It's important to me they feel I am happy to be with them. Nobody wants to feel babysat. I pride myself on being able to care without the patient feeling embarrassed or overwhelmed. I try my best to help you feel safe leaving your loved one in my care. Open communication helps your family feel you've made the correct choice and helps me feel comfortable doing my job. I chose caregiving because I love helping people. It is very rewarding even on the difficult days. I never lose my cool. This is important to avoid escalating the issue and causing frustration or anxiety for your loved one. Its rewarding to give you peace of mind. It is more than just a job for me. Can provide pickup from airport, doctor, take you grocery shopping, bathing, meal prep if need be, take you to your massages. I've been doing caregiving through a family friend. I would take small jobs on the weekends. This way I've got to work with a lot of different cases. You name it I've seen it. Also if I haven't seen it my current boss at the agency probably have called me at some point and told me about it for at least 30min. Really love the company where I work at and am sad to leave. The people are great the pay is great. The weather in Chicago (after 20 years) not so. In my free time I work with photography. My mother had ALS for 5 years and my brother,sister and I cared for her until the last 6 months and hospice came in to help. My best friends mother had Alzheimers, so I moved in with them to take care of her until she passed, about 9 mos later. I am currently sitting 3rd shift for my Uncle at a rehab facility who has just been diagnosed with dementia. Not sure how long he will be there, as he is not improving very much. I've been to seminars at this home and others on Dementia /Alzheimer's as it seems to be increasing in our population. Sadly my Uncle passed away in January of 2018. I have been in the customer service area for over 30 years, as I enjoy people and love to help, sometimes to a fault. I am 'very' dependable, rarely get sick (as I always get a flu shot) and worked in a hospital so had all of my shots in Aug. of 2010. My family knows they should always call me first if they need any type of help, as it gives me great pleasure. I truly am a giver, not a taker, and go above and beyond. Normally I do not have to be 'asked' to help or do something, I just do! Resume can be faxed also. I am very able to help around the house, light cleaning, cooking, laundry and sweeping or mopping. I always will try to help and stay or add a day if need be.

What makes me a great caregiver is exceeding the needs that they have. I love to go beyond for my patients. I am very caring, loving and compassionate to everyone I work with and for. I'm very caring, loving and will go above and beyond to take care of your loved one. I've worked as an Administrator in Training Social Service Director, Dietary Manager all in long-term care. I have also been a business office manager in Psychiatry and was a Resident Assistant at an assistant living. Ever since I was young, I've always enjoy taking care of my grandparents weather I was painting toenails, shaving legs or giving a haircut or helping to house chores that were difficult for them. It always put a smile on my face. Not only do I enjoy helping others, but seeing the satisfaction of relief on their face on things that maybe difficult for them to complete or families with smiles that have stress relieved off of them is satisfying to me. I love what I do and I wouldn't do it any other way. With my experience, I have learned to be patient with others, listening to everyone, and think of all options or approaches before acting.

I always enjoyed the company of seniors. When it was necessary to get a job I decided to go into the home health business. I received my CNA licensing in Illinois. Went on to operate my own in home health business there for 23 years. I did a lot of different things for my clients. Some I seen once a month, others daily. Helped them move from one housing situation to another.ie (their home , assisted living, nursing home facility). I have worked with Hospice agencies as a representative for the family, making sure that all the comforts were given to my client. I placed live-ins with those who needed them and supervised their care. I prepared meals for their special diets and family favorites. This is something I really enjoy. I take particular pride in solving difficult situations such as making a meal they enjoy but are unable to eat unless served to meet their swallowing needs. Or finding ways to keep them engaged in doing things they enjoyed but are now limited. One client had no appetite but loved bacon and could no longer eat it due to medical reasons. So I would make a slice of bacon and give her the food she could eat. The smell helped with the appetite. When I found myself in the throws of a divorce and needed to earn an income that would support myself and 2 small children this was my course of action. To work independently so I would be available for my children as well. I am an excellent independent worker. I like to get things done over and

I currently have a Certificate in Practical Nursing, no license yet as I have not taken the licensure exam. I am going into my 3rd semester in nursing school, I aspire to become a Registered Nurse.

I'm real passionate about caring for people. Seeing my resident happy makes me feel proud of what I do as a nurse assistant. Anything in the healthcare field fascinates me, specially nursing.
