I became a caregiver because of my parents in need of care...During a 36+year period I have worked as a caregiver/home-care aide also assisted caring for my parents until they departed. I was taught to honor thy mother/ father and respect others at a young age... I have completed and passed a C.N.A. course 19+years ago and have worked in nursing homes,skilled facilities and rehab centers as a rehab assistant for quite sometime now...What I do in making a difference in helping others has always been a joyous experience. I have been in emergency care for 10+ years and love giving back to my community. I currently work in the town I grew up in. I've been working as an occupational therapy assistant for 20 years, mostly in skilled nursing facilities . I love working with the geriatric population and have great rapport with my patients. The therapy world has drastically changed since October 1, and I'm ready for a new career! About 4 years ago I discovered I had talent in abstract painting using alcohol ink and acrylic paints and people are thrilled when I teach them that they too can be an artist! I like to keep my patients/clients engaged by playing card games/ word games and find that they are very appreciative of my style of providing Therapy. My grandmother had cancer and she was put in hospice and I learned a lot of how to take care of her until she passed away in 2010. My grandfather had Alzeimers disease and I took care of him also. I had to learn how to deal with him being forgettable and other health issues. I have a passion for elderly people making them happy in there last days. Making them the best.
