My name is Ngozi Onyekuru, I am CNA/CMT certified. Currently, I have a degree in social work . I have 10 years experience as a caregiver, I am patient with my clients because I understand what they go through . I work with my clients to be able to achieve their set goals. Secondly, attentiveness is another characteristic I bring with me when working with my clients. I am always attentive to the needs and changes that take place in their lives. I am a caregiver because I am a mother of a son who has Cerebral palsy that I have taken care of. I also took care of my mother who was terminally ill before she passed. A personal achievement I have achieved is that I went back to school at the age of 42 and is now about to graduate with honors. I am a single mom of three boys. I attend Coppin State University majoring in Early Childhood Education.

I became a caregiver solely on the simple fact of trying to be like my mother at first. But it was soon after I begin my first job at 17 years old that I found I really have a passion for helping people. The look of gratitude and appreciation that comes from the people you take care of surpasses any other amount of money or material satisfaction that I could have imagined. A lot of people chose to be in the health field because it pays well, but if you don't have a passion for what you are doing, it is pointless. I care for others as if they are my own family. I love to talk and get to know my clients so we can both come to a comfortable understanding of each other. A personal achievement of mine I am proud of is continuing to further my education. Education is key to understanding a lot about yourself. So I take much joy in my schooling. I am a junior at Coppin State and have been a GNA for the past three years. I love what I do!

I became a caregiver because my grandma was living on her own for a while in 2012. So I noticed she needed help with a lot of things from ADLs to cooking so I was always there to help her. So I thought to myself there are more people like her who probably need help, so from that day on I new I wanted to be a caregiver. I like being able to interact with the patient and learning new things from a day to day basis. I'm currently a student at Coppin State University and I been on the deans list for the past 2 years straight and I will be graduating May 2016. Once I graduate my goal is to attend Occupational Therapy School to become an Occupational therapist. I'm a very nice person and people love personality everywhere I go and I am very easy to get along with and very empathetic.
