My name is Kathleen but I go by Kate. I am 41 years old and live in Ellicott City. I'm currently taking prerequisite classes at Howard Community College so I can apply to the Nursing Program in the fall. I am a dependable, patient and empathetic person. I have worked at a senior living facility before and I love working with others. Being a caregiver is very rewarding for me and I thrive when I'm helping others.

• Observe residents and report any health issues to the supervising nurse. • Take care of a resident's personal hygiene, including bed bath, shaving, nail care etc. • Monitor vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure. • Set up of meal trays and document food/fluid intake. • Assist with feeding residents and serving nutritional supplements • Maintain cleanliness of the residents’ rooms. • Transport residents to the therapy area. • Oversaw inventory and office supply purchases. • Verified and created claim numbers by communicating with various insurance companies. • Coordinated board and committee meetings, including schedules and information preparation and distribution. • Prepared letters and documents. • Utilized MS Office fully in daily task and responsibilities. • Researched and retrieved information. • Set up and maintained accurate data management systems. • Made copies, sent faxes, and handled all outgoing correspondence. • Oversaw receptionist area, including greeting visitors and responding to telephone and in person requests for information. • Opened and properly distributed incoming mail. • Designed electronic file systems and maintained electronic paper files. • Maintained the front desk and reception area in a neat and organized fashion.

I became a care giver, because I enjoy helping people. I have a nurturing spirit and a love for life. My goal as a care giver is to help every individual maintain a healthy active lifestyle, which includes but not limited to.. e.g assisting with (ADL's) Activities Of Daily Living, Range Of Motion, Feeding, Bathing, etc just to name a few. It is my job as a care giver; to make sure every individual, maintains their Dignity as well as their Respect. I enjoy what I do!!

I am a caring loving, person, my grandmother became sick, and I decided to take care of her, after her passing,I decided to take care of other people that needed a caring loving person like me, I continue to update all require certificate and continue to take courses. I have been a caregiver for over 20 years. Caring for people has always come naturally for me. I am hardworking,kind, compassionate and easy going. I enjoy making a positive difference in peoples lives. My most important achievement is having raised wonderful children.

In my early years, I worked as a banker in a reputable company in Ghana and I was in charged of pensions that the government sends to the bank for pensioners. I became very close to them and developed an exceptional love for seniors. As a caregiver a like paying attention to everything around me especially the people who are in my care. l like helping seniors to have confidence in me and to assure them through the services l render that l will always be there for them.l complying with all laws in connection with any employment relationship. I have received a lot of trainings as a tool making me to work very efficiently and tirelessly. Some of the trainings have helped my working relationship with other caregivers as well as other colleagues from other departments. As a caregiver,l learn how to stay calm and be respectful. l have achieved going back to school and being on track and also enrolling my children in college. I am a 54 year old woman married with 3 children all in school.l have worked as a CNA for the past 10years taking care of seniors with many challenges. I am very energetic (physically) and compassionate in my services. I am a very lovely and very respectful. I love learning from whoever is prepare to teach me and l am a quick learner. l am very attentive and go extra mile in my services; especially to seniors. l love being a caregiver because l offer help to people in with dignity and help them to feel safe.

I became a Caregiver because I took care of my grandmother with Alzeihmer disease and my sister with epilepsy. They like the care I was providing to them and I decided to pursue my carrier in Nursing. Now, I work with elderly with different needs and I like to care about people.

One of the first few things I want people to know about me is that I am very caring, honest, and loving. I am married with two beautiful girls and a wonderful wife. I love serving others and putting a smile others' faces. When I can give joy to others through my service and relationships it pleases me and makes me very happy. I am a person who wants to love and care for others to the best of my abilities and at the same time be very professional and attentive to detail in what I do. My Goal is to help people and the more people I help the more I believe I have done my calling in this world. I am a hard worker, social, patient, kind, gentle, and faithful. I am thankful when I get to serve others, and I believe that having a family of my own is teaching me more how to best care for others.

Why did you become a caregiver? Since a young age I have been liking in spending quality time with people that need assistance. I have passion about helping people and making them to smile. When I did my CNA 2003 and it was at that point I realized that caring for people, mainly the elderly, was my calling. What do you like about being a caregiver? Well, to me I think it's being able to put yourself in the shoes and understand that they were also my age once upon a time. I think you need the gift of connecting with people and make them feel comfortable with you and get to know them better. Working for someone is a personal experience and it can be incredibly bearing if the relationship is more caring and personal. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? To be able to make others happy, laugh and also make them feel positive about themselves by communicating with them and bringing something positive out of them. I've helped many of my friends get over their fear and depressions and disappointments. Friends have come to thank me and appreciate many times for being such a good and positive friend. Tell us something about yourself. I mingle with people very easily and have strong interpersonal skills. I come with creative solutions challenges in my setting. I am currently pursuing a nursing degree and hopefully after this will go for my master.

I became a caregiver because I love helping others. When I was in the 5th grade at Harpers Choice, we use to visit the Bain Center a lot helping with the older people. Every since then I always wanted to be apart of their lives. I like being a caregiver because it's makes me happy knowing that I'm making a difference in their lives. Whether it's sitting there talking to them and they're not talking back. I love being a caregiver. A personal achievement was getting my CNA; knowing I was one step away from doing what I wanted. I'm a determined, dedicated, and hardworking.

I provide home care services to seniors which include, activities of client's daily living, for example, personal care, companionship, medication reminder, general housekeeping, taking clients to appointments, meal preparation, and other health and wellness related activities. I'm passionate in what I do because being a caregiver for seniors is very rewarding in every way. I see the joy, love and happiness in the seniors I provide my care, and that, make me love and enjoy what I do.
