My inspiration for becoming a caregiver came from my experience raising 2 children with developmental challenges. Both of them are wonderful, successful, independent and completely well balanced adults. When my autistic son was about 8, the doctors told me he would never be able to live independently. He now works with people with autism, has had a paper about autism published, has a computer repair business on the side, is a professional photographer, is a part of the Montavilla Emergency Warning Shelter, in Portland, OR working specifically with severe weather readiness, and is also street medic. My other son is in his senior year of college about to earn dual degrees in Elementary Education and Ministry, and is on the Dean's list. I realized that my passion was seeing the needs of a person and finding the right, personal method to create a healthy, successful and happy life for my clients, and never placing limits on what they can do. I have worked with a variety of children and adults with varied needs. I currently work with a senior who enjoyed scrabble and word searches, in their past they loved to do wood working so we do as much of that as they are physically able. My method is to get to know my client, their past hobbies, interests and then continue doing those activities (yes sometimes I have to get creative due to medical needs, my current client has some vision loss, so I have acquired a large, black and white scrabble set). Talking to seniors about their past is also enjoyable as is listening to their favorite music!

My name is Bindu Amie Sackor, I'm 26yrs old woman. I'm originally from Ivory Coast a French speaking country in West Africa. I moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 2005 . I'm a single mother with a handsome two years old boy. I am a certified caregiver. I have been a caregiver for about six and a half years now. I'm very patient, outgoing, loyal and a people person. I am very passionate about my job and I'm also very reliable. I love being a caregiver because I get to help both children's and elderly. I get very excited when I see them happy and smiling. First I am a mother of four so being a caregiver is just a natural instinct to me. I been taking care of mentally challenged individuals for over 15 years now. What I love about being a caregiver is just knowing I'm making a difference in someone's life helping them live a comfortable life. I love seeing my clients happy. The one personal achievement that I am proud of that may sound small but with this individual it was a health concern of mines he ate his meals really fast all the time what I did day by day was sat with him while he ate and prompt him to eat slower with every bite he took it took some time but now he eats slower and enjoys the taste of his food.

I AM CURRENTLY NOT ABLE TO WORK, I AM HOMESCHOOLING MY KIDS. I HOPE TO BE BACK TO WORK ONE DAY, BUT RIGHT NOW KEEPING MY LITTLE ONES SAFE IS MY MAIN JOB RIGHT NOW. Hello I am a wife to a Veteran, and a mother to 4 children and 1 fur baby. I started caring for my Grandfather several years ago, up until his recent passing. To list a few things I did so you can get an idea. Bed Bathing, Grooming, Denture Care, Hearing Aid, Emptying Catherter & measuring urine, Blood pressure with machine and kept track, Stayed the night with him in hospital and cared for him there as well and called nurse when needed, flipped with help every 2hrs to prevent bed sores, used mouth suction, and more. I decided when he passed that I wanted to care for others the way I cared for him, and that is what lead me to be a Caregiver. I am not a CNA but would love to become one. I have been a stay at home mom for the most part of 12 years and cared for my children while my husband served in the Navy. I worked here and there when I could. Patient and kind I listened to my patients needs and make sure everything is met to the best of my ability. By showing both empathy and compassion caregivers will let the person they are caring for know that they care about the person and want to do what they can to help them. Patience. When you work with someone who needs home care it is important that you are patient and understanding. It helps to sometimes put yourself in the other person's shoes and see what it might be like to ask people for help. Reliable. A great caregiver is someone that can be counted on to be there. If the caregiver says he or she is going to be there to provide home care every Thursday morning, then the caregiver shows up, unless there is an emergency. Those needing home care services need a reliable and dependable caregiver. Trustworthy. Most people who need home care services are in a vulnerable position. They are inviting someone into their home to be near their valuables. A good caregiver is someone who is trustworthy in this regard, as well as in being trusted to keep the client's information confidential. Flexible. As with most things in life, home care needs may change and unexpected events can happen. A good caregiver will be prepared to go with the flow, being flexible, so that they continue to provide good home care, even if a rigid schedule isn't being followed.

my personality traits include respectful, empathetic, strong willed, loving and caring. what attracted me to be a caregiver is knowing that i can help somebody and their families through a difficult time. i lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's in 2009. As much as i wanted to stay home and take care of her i had to go to school and my mother had to work.... when we found a caregiver for her it was like a huge weight was lifted of our shoulders. we knew we could go to school/work and not have to worry about her not eating or taking her medications, or going on a walk and getting lost. i want to be able to give people the same peace of mind i was given and the same care my grandmother was given. the personal achievement im most proud of is coming out of a dark time and still seeing the good/light in everybody instead of the bad/dark in people. the the thing i enjoy most about being a caregiver is helping people.
