I never intended to become a caregiver. I fell into the position through a friend's connection and discovered that I absolutely love it (and I am amazing at it!) I am a trained and skilled healthcare provider with a background in biomechanics and rehabilitation. I have reliable transportation, am intelligent and good at managing schedules and appointments, and I have a cheerful, fun personality. I am responsible, reliable and mature. As a caregiver, I have found it incredibly rewarding to insert myself into a home that was struggling just to get by day to day, and help bring order and flow. Watching the progress my patient has made over the past few months is one of the most rewarding experience of my life. When I can see that other's lives are better because of me, it warms my soul. I am proud that I have nearly worked myself out of a job. My current position is with a recovering stroke patient. When I first started working with him, he needed help simply getting from his chair into his wheelchair. Now he is walking unassisted, dressing himself, and toileting alone. I love this family, but my days there are numbered (in a good way!).

The skills I obtained during 23 years of being a Project Manager have easily transferred to other roles because of the importance of documentation, reliability, schedule and the need for details and providing weekly reports. In the last 3 years I have been a private caregiver with most of my clients having dementia, Alzheimer's, strokes, cancer, or hip replacement post care. I transferred out of the corporate world to something I was passionate about because of the influence on my parents impressing upon me to give back, to use my talents and heart to help others during times when freedom and dignity and a lack of companionship aren't providing the quality of life they deserve.

Hello, my name is April and I have 10+ years experience working in the Home health care industry, and thoroughly enjoy it! I have provided care in homes and hospitals for a diversity of patients with Alzheimers, Parkinsons, dementia, and hospice needs. I am first aid and CPR certified, a CNA, and have started taking classes to become a nurse. I have had a variety of medical experience such as working in the University of Utah burn unit which required high medical standards. I have been told I am naturally compassionate and competent, especially when working with the elderly and disabled. I value honesty, hard work, and live a clean life style. I am also happy to help with light cleaning, meal prep., pets, and organizing/laundry. During this time of the coronavirus I am being extra careful to follow the guidelines our national leaders are recommending. To provide safer care and reduce the spread of COVID-19, my desire is to choose just one client, to limit our exposure. I have always loved caring for people from infancy to older age. I have tons of experience with kids, and some experience with seniors. I became inspired to begin caregiving to senior when my grandmother fell sick and I helped care for her for years. She recently passed away and I found a lot of joy and fulfillment being able to help her. I love being able to form relationships with the people I am providing care for and be their as their friend as well. I am very sociable and a great listener and also have lots of experience with special need and have developed a great sense of patience and appreciation because of it.

I believe that any great caregiver has to truly enjoy doing what they do and I have always genuinely loved caring for others. The feeling of accomplishment in how much I am able and willing to help someone each day is truly irreplaceable. I have worked in a multitude of care facilities and have always truly enjoyed it. Being able to help someone in any way that I can has always been something I have enjoyed, as well as giving them companionship which I think is something truly special. I would like to state that I am not currently a certified nurse assistant. My certification expired in September of 2017. I have been certified two times, so I have taken the class twice now and have had quite a bit of successful experience in being a caregiver. I do plan to acquire my certification again and further pursue my journey and career in healthcare.

I am naturally a caregiver to many and compassion is my gift. Since I was young I had a love for the Elderly and the sick. I have years of experience with the elderly.
