I've been a certified caregiver since 2013. I decided to pursue a career in this field due to the fact that I cared for my grandfather. I'm passionate about what I do. I not only care for a person I become a companion. I try to make them as comfortable as possible with whatever it is they're battling. I thoroughly enjoy making them feel and look good. As child, I grew up in a house hold with my elders. We took care of them and even though it was required of me, I always enjoyed it as my way of saying thank you. I make a great care giver because I understand what it is to need someone to be there for and sometimes just with you. In the days we live in, there is little to no love in the world for younger people, that leaves not such a great outlook for our elders so, as I am able and capable I love to put my hand to the ploy and help where there is a need. Hello! What I love most about being a caregiver/CNA is being able to be a shoulder for those who do not have anyone. I love helping those who need it most or being there for those who aren't able to care for themselves and are seeking long-term care. I've been taking care of those I care about since I was 11 so being a caretaker comes naturally. I have more than 6 years of experience and I understand the importance of following the care plan. My first client was my Mom and although she left me early she was my motivation for wanting to be a Nurse/Caregiver. I really enjoy seeing the smiles on the faces of the lives I've changed or made an impact on. I am a mother so I do understand the importance of paying attention to details and communication. I have extensive experience and training and love the field. My only goal is to offer safe and quality care first and foremost to my clients. I provide my own supplies such as gloves, disinfectant spray and wipes, hand sanitizer, shoe covers and a no contact thermometer. I am professional, prompt, and dependable. What are your personality traits or expertise that help you be a great caregiver? I am a compassionate, kind, loving, forgiving and understands individuals who are not feeling well, bed ridden or have lost most of their ability to move around, think or do the things they once enjoyed. I have learned to respond and not react to their change in character. Recognizing that it is the pain they are experiencing that brings about change in behaviors. This can help heal a lot of misunderstanding. What attracted you to being a care giver? My mother and her doctor(s), as well as working as a Medical Assistant caring for patients. I was attracted to caregiving growing up while watching my mother in and out of hospitals and her struggle with her health whihc affected her mentally, emotionally and physically. I was able to care for her during her illness. What do you enjoy most about being a caregiver? Knowing I have the opportunity to do the best I can to bring maybe a smile, a laugh, a hug, or the joy of conversations with those who need it the most and knowing that everything I do, say or think matters to that individual. This makes all difference. What is a personal achievement you are proud of? My personal achievement is that I most proud of is the opportunity that I was able to help both my parents through their illnesses and terminal ill duration. My time with them is priceless, it wasn't easy but it made me a better person.
