I have learned to be a care giver at an early age. I've prepared meals while working in a group home and several years of experience dealing with crisis intervention, problem solving and helping assist daily living needs. While working for Altus Academy, I transported clients with disabilities and helped them learn independent living skills. As a behavior specialist I have learned to be a companion and Through talk therapy I can help relieve stress.

My name is Emily and I'm a last-semester nursing student at Grand Canyon University. My passion in life is helping others and helping clients and their families function at the highest level they can. After having a sick grandmother myself and seeing the compassion she was treated with by her caregivers, I realized my passion for nursing and caregiving. I treat every client as if they were my own family member with the utmost respect and dignity. I believe in providing holistic care, addressing physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of clients and their families.

When it comes to others I am loving, caring, patient, able to feel when one is down or not having a good day. I will do whatever is possible to give the best care to clients to meet their needs. I became a caregiver after having to care for my grandmother before her passing. One thing I enjoy about being a caregiver is being able to give great care to clients while earning their trust and also their families. A personal achievement I am proud of is receiving my medical assistant certificate and now going to get my bachelors in Health Care Administration.

I have worked as a cognitive therapist in the homes of clients. Many clients of mine wanted companionship, someone to talk to, visit with and walk down memory lane. I really enjoyed listening to their hearts. I am attracted to caregiving because I enjoy helping people with chores around the house and I really like to exercise so if they are able I can help them with making small steps towards exercising. I am most proud of finishing my degree at the university of Grand Canyon. I have always wanted to get started and finish and I stuck with it and finished. All of this while my children were watching me achieve this big Goal. I want to be a caregiver to help in my community while earning extra income for my family.

I used to be an RN for 14 years I mainly worked in hospitals for the first 10 years of my nursing career, then in the last five years i worked for visiting nurses in Yucca Valley and I also worked for a hospice group by the name of Odyssey In Palm Desert. But I have not worked very much in the past 11 years as I went into a coma that lasted four months When I got discharged I was incontinent of urine, as I had a prolapsed bladder. Which resulted from having a catheter for the entire four months. Than I had a mesh implant to repair the prolapsed bladder, that has not gone well for me. Just this year in june I finally got relived of my profound incontinence. I had an implant put into my hip which I feel now I have a true relief of my incontinence.. but as far as working with patients, I feel with all of my experiences from working in a medical surgical unit to working in ICU, CCU at Eisenhower and at Hi Desert Medical Center, I feel confident that I could give my patient a loving and caring environment. that would help my patient flourish in my care.

I create an enabling environment so that clients fill safe when around me. I am a good listener which makes clients tell their many stories, I am 6"2 inches which helps me with transfers. I encourage exercising whenever possible to keep the clients fit and busy, these can be done even if the client is on a wheel chair. I get great satisfaction if am seeing improvements in my clients health no matter how small it is.

I am a young mother of three little girls. I have been a C.N.A. for three years, could have been for longer but waited it out a bit. I am attending college for a Dual Major in Elementary Education and Special Education for all grades. I always try and go above and beyong for my patients/residents and love to help others.

When I was 18 I got a job being a residential counselor at a group home for special needs kids, this is where I realised I wanted to work and help people in anyway I could. There is no greater feeling then know what I'm doing actually makes a difference in someone's life. After moving on from that job I began working with a gentleman with short term memory loss For a few years. In 2011 I went on my own and began Working with another gentleman, that need a hand With just about every daily need. I have done many different classes and certifications, I am also going to school to be a kindergarten / special education teacher.

I have always had a compassion to care for others since I was a kid. I would help our elderly go shopping, take grocery in the house, help with therapy, anything they needed help with. Being a caregiver allows me to be myself. I can relate and understand how they fell, laugh with them, talk with them and praise with them. One achievement for me was taking care of elder people, helping them preserve their life and I started working in dietary at a nursing home when I was 16 years old this is my passion, my heart, my love and I would be lost if I was not able to continue helping. I am certified in Kansas and Missouri, working in this field for 20+ years and have a license home health agency in Kansas.

I have not had a job as a caregiver, although I have experience taking care and helping my great grandparents. 3.) I completed my CNA course in my senior year of high school. 4.) I am wanting a job as a caregiver and am currently attending Grand Canyon University to be a nurse.

1. I initially became a CNA because I was working two jobs and was unhappy, I felt like I needed a job that allowed for a better chance at advancement. 2. I truly enjoy helping others, being a CNA allows me to do that and I am able to work on my feet, which is a must. 3. My biggest achievement so far is my daughter. I had her seven months ago and she is the best thing thats ever happened to me. I am also very proud that I was able to deliver without pain medications and she is still breastfeeding! 4. I absolutely love learning new things, I believe in continuous improvement!
