Helping my parents

I was an elementary school teacher for 14 years. I have recently decided to leave the classroom and work as a Caregiver. I worked with thousands of children. But by having a relationship with children you also get to know the family. It is that amount of care that I am bringing to this field.

1- Because i have compassion for people who are in needs ( disabled) then i want to help anybody next to me . patients deserve our attention .They didn't want to be like they are, society and communities have responsibilities to help them live like us. 2- Teaching patients new skills . 3 - I made 5 years of work in caregiving field without missing one day at the same time, going to school then get the bachelor's degree and master in French . 4 - i'm a detailled person, quick learner, motivated ready to help and follow then smart one. I have a valid CPR , First aid , Article 9,Prevention and supporting ( former CIT 1&2) then Medication. I have skills in computer ( word, Excel, power point ).

1. I became a caregiver/nursing assistant during my senior year in High School. I wanted to eventually become a nurse. With experience working in a skilled nursing facility, I took these skills with me when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I took care of her for almost five years. 2. I enjoy taking care of the elderly or disabled individuals because I believe they have been a blessing in our society and have lived through so many of life's lessons. They should be taken care of properly and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. I feel as though this type of work is very rewarding because I am not only working to earn an income, but I helping someone feel good and cared for. 3. Improving my overall physical and mental well-being by changing my diet and lifestyle. Adhering to a nutritional lifestyle in order to perform at my best is of paramount importance to my well-being, as I have discovered numerous food allergies. This has probably been one of the most difficult challenges for me, especially being a single mother of three kids. So I guess I most proud of the fact that I have had so many physical challenges, but have been successful in overcoming this while raising three kids by myself. And I am very proud that my kids are all very well adjusted and talented. 4. I am a pretty decent cook!

I thoroughly enjoy working with seniors and making special connections. I was a program director at a retirement community, a technical services librarian in charge of the senior volunteers and teaching the technical classes, and most recently, an elder companion. Your family member will be cared for the same way I would expect my grandparents to be cared for.

I think my best personality traits that contribute to me being a caregiver are that I am an exceptional listener; people generally tell you exactly what they want if you just listen closely. I am an empathetic, compassionate women who just loves to nurture. What attracted me most to being a caregiver is simply, and not to be redundant, I just want to take care of folks. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the connection and the relationship that inevitably develops. I love to listen to stories and play games and sometimes just simply sit with people as a comfort for them. I think my most proud achievement isn't necessarily something that ends with a award that I have received or a congratulations. My personal achievement is overcoming my obstacles while always keeping a smile on and doing my best to brighten everyone else's day while I'm at it.

I am a pre-medical student and am thoroughly knowledgeable in disease progression and management. I have been working at a cancer center and have become well-versed in the management of cancer, palliative care, and the side effects associated with systemic treatments and comfort measures. I have always put my patients before myself in my line of work and I will not walk away from a situation until it is completed and all questions have been answered. I put my entire heart into caring for patients and that is why it has been my calling in life. In all of my healthcare jobs, I have grown close to all of my patients and have formed relationships I will never forget. I recently graduated from Arizona State University, with honors, and was featured at my local ASU campus as well as the main campus in Tempe for my distinctions. I credit my success in academia as well as my profession to my passion for healthcare and the drive to make a positive impact on all of my patients.

I consider myself a people person having worked with children and adults in a helping capacity for nearly 40 years. I am quite active, hiking throughout the week and lifting weights 3 day per week. Currently I work part time at an adult daycare center. I enjoy helping seniors with dementia and Alzheimer's disease with activities of daily living. I understand the special needs and challenges of people experiencing dementia and Alzheimer's disease. I truly enjoy being assistance to and giving comfort to those with special needs.

I became a caregiver because I enjoy being able to assist people in their homes with things that they aren't able to do anymore. I also like to provide some companionship to people who don't get out very much and may be experiencing some loneliness. I am proud of being able to be a spiritual teacher to others. I have done an extensive amount of community service work with those who are homeless as well as people with substance abuse issues.

Maintaining and expanding my reputation as an excellent caregiver and the acknowledgement of my excellent service that I frequently receive from my clients and their loved ones mean more to me than almost anything else. I am always working on expanding my knowledge, skills and talents. I am a hard, conscientious worker. I take great pride in all I do. I am literally loved by ALL of my clients because I respect them and consider them friends. I have received countless emails, cards and letters from them in my short career. At each visit I try to challenge and encourage my clients and they feel better about themselves and what they have accomplished that day. I am a good conversationalist, always trying to find out more about my clients' interests and our commonality. I often arrive with “tricks up my slieve” – little surprises – to “make their day.” (One client actually said this to me.) I have a reputation with my clients of being an excellent cook able to prepare a wide range of delicious dishes, beautifully presented. In fact one client’s spouse, who herself is an excellent cook, suggested that I become a personal chef for some bachelor or retired couple. I appreciate art, high design and always try to incorporate “good design” in things I create; that includes food presentation. Young & energetic personality. I have a warming heart to be a great listener, non judgemental, very caring. I have worked as a caregiver at renaissance assisted living since the time i moved from ohio 2013 till october 2015. I realized there was not many people that were caring enough to be of help to the elderly and vulnerable adults and children out there. The reason I became a great Caregiver, I enjoy working with the elderly. I love helping regaining their independent, helping them gain confident in going back into their community. I am a retired special needs teacher, that title have given me the experience to work many types of disabilities, whether it be working with the elderly or mentally ill. I new to Portland and looking for a job in the field I enjoy working in. As I stated above, I am a retired special needs teacher, I have been a caregiver in groups homes, I am a experienced foster parent as well as an adopted parent. After many years of working in corporate America, I decided to switch careers. I became a licensed CNA, to fulfill my desire to help others. I love the one on one interactions with my clients. Knowing my client's family feels assured and confident that I provide their loved one the quality care they deserve, is very rewarding. I am very proud of my community service and my family. I graduated from ASU, so I love ASU football! I am an avid reader, movie buff, and I love to cook!
