My name is kiana. I am a college student majoring in Nursing science. I have an absolute passion for being of service to others. I am very attentive, detailed, organized, punctual, and patient. What I enjoy most about being a caregiver is the relationships and connections I am able to build with those that I care for. Caring for others is what I have done all my life I was a nanny before I became a caregiver and I have enjoyed every second of it ever since. I have references and I am willing to share their info upon request and I have volunteer experience as well at hospice by the sea. I hope to spread a little bit of joy by making someones life just a little bit easier.

Hello! If I were asked what part of my life I want to change? I would change my degree, from Computer Science to Nursing. I've been a housewife here in the US for 10 years. Now, I chose this medical path for I believe all this Anatomy and Physiology knowledge are helpful to myself, to my family and to other people. I am 42 and I am pursuing a nursing degree in a community college. I worked as CNA in a skilled nursing facility in McKinney, TX. I spend more time caring for MS and Dementia residents. Learning is a never ending process. To be healthy inside and out, we must first feed the brain with good things and good information. Lastly, my motivational quote: Life is so fast, let's make our lives useful and with a purpose". Useful for ourselves, for our family and useful to other people. Purpose to serve.

1. I am currently not a caregiver but I'm interested in becoming a caregiver to help people and make their lives a little bit easier if possible. Caring for my own parents have been a passion of mine since birth. I have been born into an elderly family; so the heartfelt care that everyone deserves as if they were your own flesh and blood should be taken as a gift and not looked at as a hindrance. I think what makes a person a great Caregiver is someone who had compassion and respect for those they take care of. I'd like to say I fit in that category! My first experience of taking care of someone and all their daily needs was my grandmother. She was fighting cancer and the last month to her passing it was my mom, aunt, uncle, brother and I taking care if her in shifts of 12 hours. It really opened me up to wanting to be more there for other people. It's also what inspired me to become a registered nurse. I love everything about being a Caregiver. Sometimes it's not an easy job, but I always imagine putting myself in the families shoes because of what happened to my grandmother. I'm most proud of the fact that I'm doing so much with my life. I know when I finish my schooling to become a register nurse I'll be able to do so much more.

I always give 100% and do the best job I can, with no exceptions or excuses. I also try to bring a sense of humor to my work. If I can add a smile or laugh to a client’s day, that means a lot to me. It is important to laugh.

I am a qualified Certified Nurse Assistant currently working as a Palomar Home Health Care Assistant with terminally ill elderly patients and also at the Brain Trauma Learning Center in Escondido. I changed careers from restaurant management to health care 4 years ago after taking care of my elderly father during his cancer treatment. In 2006 my wife returned from a middle east deployment with the Air Force and underwent major surgery at Balboa Naval Medical Center. I helped her through her physical therapy and convalescence and began to take classes at Mesa College in 2008 to be a Physical Therapy Assistant. My wife returned from another overseas tour in 2010 needing physical therapy and I was not able to finish the program. Mesa College lost its Physical Therapy Assistant accreditation for the following year so I completed the Certified Nurse Assistant program at Miracosta College instead. My resume and transcripts detail my college classes related to health care, physical therapy and medical treatment procedures. After working for 8 months at St Paul’s and an additional 20 months directly with terminal home care patients at Palomar, and at the Brain Trauma Learning center, I have learned to treat each patient as an individual, listening to and meeting their needs and choices as much as possible.
