I love helping people, and especially acute care or palliative care. I have taken care of clients after cervical fusions, knee replacements, leg surgeries. I have stayed in-hospital with clients, checked their medication records and insured proper dosages and times, assisted with physical therapy, and acted as a liaison between medical staff and family. My strongest traits are reliability, patience, kindness, problem-solving, and client-centered actions that keep the client as independent as possible. I have a great sense of humor. I also have extensive experience in palliative and hospice care, including administration of TPN. The journey to our next destination can take many paths, but it can be a positive journey of discovery. Providing support for the loved ones of the client is as important as client care. In many ways, I have always been a caregiver. I am the oldest of seven children, so it comes naturally to me. I assisted my grandfather, both grandmothers, my mother, mother-in-law at the time, and my father in their dying process. My first job was as a CNA at a nursing home when I was 16. I fell in love with taking care of people while in the medical field, and that hasn't changed in all these years. Whether it be living as independently as possible or dying with dignity, I feel compelled to help people through this process. I was a Red Cross instructor for many years, including teaching the 64-hour First Responder course to Department of Transportation employees. I thoroughly love teaching others how to help people, whether it be a crisis situation, or simple first aid. I am passionate about caregiving, and compassionate in my approach to those in need.

Being a caregiver is meant for me, I'm very passionate about what I do. I love to helping mt patients and getting to know them and making them comfortable as if I was there family. I mostly enjoy bonding with the people I take care of. Two of my favorite hobbies are art and writing poems when I'm not doing school work and I'm also a black belt in karate.

I have always had a passion for working with any fields that deals with children. I find it very calming to help guide them in the right path. Recently, I have changed my career a bunch, but I seem to be going back to kids. In high school, I took a few classes that allowed me to be able to work with the pre-schoolers at my school. I got to make sure they were behaving, helped with their snack time, etc. I want to continue to do this in my nursing degree because I would like to help children now and in the future.

As a caregiver, I enjoy uplifting another person and motivating them to eat healthier and have exercise. What helped me become a great caregiver was learning about the importance of being caring and patience. I have build a great bond with my past patient as she felt a sense of trust and care knowing that she was placed in good hands near me. I have been a caregiver my whole life at some level, from babies to grandbabies, and grandparents to great-grandparents. It's a rewarding job to give respite to families, give them time to get their needs met and not have to worry about their person at home not being in the hands of a responsible person to take care of them. I think in terms of being a caregiver, I am most proud of being a pre-teen and being left to watch my great-grandfather once or twice a week while my grandmother got out to do her errands, get her hair done, etc. I am the mother of 2, and the hands on grandmother of 4. I have a full time job in accounting, but love the caretaker jobs I take on to get my own self out and do something different while earning money to allow my grandkids to be involved in after school activities.
