I'm a very upfront outgoing person. I've been a Certified Nurse Assistant since I was 18 yrs old. I was helping my Mom out with my Dad during his battle with lung cancer. I've worked in Long term care facilities. Prisons, Home healths, Assisted living homes. I mostly enjoy going into the homes as a Companion. Just giving somebody the option of staying home. Helping them with all daily living routines. Allowing them to still stay active. Giving them respect, dignity. Also giving them all my attention.

I'm a good person, fairly quiet. I respect the clients to the highest and I'm a listener. I like to repeat to them so I fully understand what their need is. My personality allow to treat them like i want to be treated with gentle care and respect.

I have been a caregiver off and on for over 25 years and I love what I do! I have been told I have a "old soul" and that I have a special way of getting people to smile and feel comfortable. I got into this line of work after helping my mother care for my grandparents that both had Alzheimer's and Dementia. This work is very rewarding for me because I not only FEEL like I make a difference in my clients lives, but, it also shows by the smiles on the faces of them and their families. I not only assist with daily living activities and house keeping, but I also provide companionship and support. I have the ability to fit in just like a member of the family most times and it is very important to me that my clients feel respected and safe and loved. Each day will begin with a huge smile and a quick sit down visit and conversation that hopefully includes some laughs and more smiles and when the day is done I will give a round of hugs and more smiles until my next visit. I have an outgoing personality. I smile a lot and like to get others to smile back. I like to talk to patients, get them to tell stories of happy times. I am attentive to a patients needs. I am patient, physically fit and can stay awake as long as needed. I have determination and a don't quit attitude. Two years ago for my 50th Birthday, I hiked 1100 miles on the Appalachian Trail.

I am a friendly, knowledgeable person, who genuinely cares about others. When beginning with others I am often quick to gauge the best methods of approach. It is incredibly hard - even for the most open among us - to admit the need for assistance -much less open up our home, lives and failing bodies and minds to a stranger. I've had many introductions in my years and Ive become pretty good with the "Icebreaker". There are situations where acceptance is a bit more complicated, but, some of my best work relationships are forged in slow starts. I come from an example of honor and love in caring for others.-my Mother has spent her entire life, since 5 yrs. old making a difference to someone in need. She has been in nursing and caregiving since she was 5 years old helping her great aunt who ran a home for elderly widows. She is now 70 years old and continues to work with grateful families and patients. There is hardly anything I can't ask her when I get stumped in helping one of my clients. There are occasions and things the medical teams aren't familiar with, nor will they share which can be of benefit to someone suffering. In closing , I believe it is my mission here to be of service to those I may help; and my desire is that each of those individuals know that it is my privilege to be of help to them . I have a simple code that I work by, "Always Leave Someone Better Than You Found Them. "
