I am compassionate, trustworthy, and empathetic companion who demonstrates these qualities in my everyday life and work. I take pride in what I do because my patients are worth every ounce of love and care that I am here to provide. I enjoy learning about them, attentively listening to their life journeys, and providing unconditional respect. Each patient I have encountered has left their unique footprint simply by providing this world with their presence, now it is my turn to give back to them.

I am a retired Respiratory Therapist of about 30 years. I cannot handle heavy lifting, but can assist in every other way. I am caring with many years experience in hospitals and home care. I have always been a patient/family advocate and educator. I like people and they normally like me.

I love caring for seniors, and adults with a disability, that need assistance with activities of daily living. (ADL's) My personal precept is helping them to remain in their homes. I care for my patients as if they are family. I love my patients and their families, and I have remained close with them even after my patients have passed away. I am a hard worker. When I am with a patient they have my full attention, and I am rarely idle. If I see something that needs to be done I will just do it without being asked. I am very rarely idle but I will always put my patients needs above any other duties.

I have been doing this line of work for about 2 years time, first through Home Instead (2008-2009) and recently though Visiting Angels (2014-2015, I left this organization this past summer in order to get back to school and renew my Certified Nursing Assistance license). I strongly believe that this line of work takes a special kind of person, one that is willing to WANT to help out those in need, Not only do I feel like I am providing a necessary service, but I get the fulfillment of knowing that I an giving someone help who otherwise would be clearly lost without a dedicated caretaker. Of the various skills with this line of work I specialize in companionship. To me this is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. My Compassion, Empathy to make a difference in ones Everyday Needs. As a young child I always enjoyed taking care of people "at the end of the day is a wonderful feeling knowing I did a good deed " I enjoy interacting with individuals helping in all their needs. I am proud of all my skills, schooling, making the president's list numerous times in college as well as giving a patient a bath by doing a little extra work in covering her Catheters on her chest with plastic bags and being very Patient she Praised, Smiled and thanked me for going the extra mile.

I helped take care of my parents in their latter years. Especially my mother, when she was diagnosed with cancer. I love people of all ages especially senior's that have a story to share. I love working with individuals and families to help them feel comfortable in their own home. I offer compassionate care, attuned support, and individualized options based on their interests and goal. Sometimes that is reminiscing on the good 'ole days, or making their favorite soup growing up, or creating a home environment that fits their current needs, like moving things around so their mobility devices can fit easily. I really like to encourage mobility exercises, when appropriate. Sometimes that looks like a walk across the living room, or down the block, or perhaps a local park if we're feeling up to it. I also love to find the positives and celebrate the win of the day, and acknowledge the hardships. I feel that acknowledging difficulties help clients to feel heard and understood. I like to help clients notice what is going on today. Notice how they feel today. I am also proficient in taking notes on clients condition, diet, medications, achievements of the day, and more. I enjoy making clients lives easier so they can enjoy more of their favorites.

The reason I would consider myself to be a great caregiver is because I am naturally a nurturer, I feel the need to make everyone comfortable, I go above and beyond to make sure all the things that need to get done are done and that the people that I'm taking care of our happy and feel confident in my care. I guess I became attracted to being a caregiver when my grandfather got sick and he got a stroke I learned all the things that needed to be done towards helping him feel independent. What I enjoy most about caregiving is the give-and-take. I learned so much from the people I meet no matter what the ages and it intern teaches me about myself. A personal achievement that I am proud of is that I read my son to become a fantastic human being and be caring towards others Because he's always watched me do it. Im a very patient, outgoing and caring person. I can't help but treat every patient as if they were a member of my family. I first started my career in the industry working in a hospital as a Patient Care Assistant in a recovery room for transplants and open heart surgeries. I quickly learned that caring for people was a passion. My purpose in life is to help others, I have the ability to create bonds and trust in short periods of time.
