I became a caregiver because of my Step-Mother. From a very early age, I was tasked with taking care of her as she became bedridden from many diseases. She is afflicted with chronic migraines, fibromyalgia, herniated/ruptured disks, obesity (450lbs. or more), and a litany of other non-communicable diseases. As time went on I found myself enjoying taking care of her and it gave my life a sense of belonging and direction. As a CNA now, I find that serving others still gives me that same sense of direction I experienced in my youth, but I feel strongly now that I'm older that if everyone were like me, and spent their lives in service of others, there would be no person on Earth who felt lonely, neglected, or not cared for. I do have quite a bit of college education even though I hold no degree, but if I were to speak of an achievement that meant the most to me, it would be my Eagle Scout award. Becoming an Eagle Scout took many long hours as a child, and most of that time was spent volunteering and serving the community. The most important thing scouting taught me was that a person did not need a reason or a reward for helping others, but that the act of self-sacrifice held its own rewards. I love to meet new people, and I enjoy making others smile.

I became a caregiver because I love being around people I love helping people and I truly like making a difference in someone's life and what I love about being a caregiver is the fact that I can make people happy and make me happy to make other people happy my personal achievements are being a manager at ResCare at the moment I am happy. that I can take care of my clients I have mentally and physically disabled clients and I take care of them around the clock 24 /7 I've been a manager for only a short year but with in that year I have changed my clients live I seen a difference from when I first started to now. something personal about myself is I grew up in a really big family and with that being said my family always to people and we take care of everyone we are a very happy taking care of people that say they began is I love taking care of people and makes me truly truly happyI'm also very hardworking person I put 100 percent effort into my job no matter what a job is

I have always had a need to take care of others who can't help themselves. When I was a little girl my mother use to call me a born Nurse Maid! Taking care of someone gives me a good feeling, because I have made a positive difference in someone's life. I have had many personal achievements in my life. But the two achievements that still make me smile are when I took care of my parents in my home until their last day on earth. My mother had Alzheimers and my father had Cancer of the Esophagus. I moved them into my home the summer of 2000. My father passed March 6, 2002. My mother passed the following year, March 3, 2003. The second achievement being when I took care of 3 Autistic brothers who lived in Elkton, Md. I took care of them for 6years! What you need to know about me is that I am a mother, grandmother, cancer survivor and a very good friend. I am trustworthy, dependable, humorous , a very high energy person, detail oriented, a self starter with an extremely strong work ethic. I became caregiver because I like to be able to be that person who is always there to help out a family when one of their family members are ill and take off some of the stress and responsibilities off of the family and give the best care possible. I have also been working as a formal caregiver off and on for the past 2 years and non formal with my family members the past year. I am proud to have completed medical Assistant certificate in 2010 prior to starting a family.

I feel i became a caregiver after losing loved ones who couldn't help themselves and I have a soft spot in my heart for those who need help. I love everything about care giving the interactions with them taking them on outings helping them reach goals independently just makes it worth it all. I've gotten wonderful feedback on my work received a gold heart award every yr I was employed at one company for doing above and beyond. I love helping them it has a spot n my heart been asked to help others outside of work just by what they've seen. I believe what makes me a Great Caregiver is that I am responsible, very reliable,hardworking caring person who has almost two years experience working in this field. I previously cared for three clients two of which were wheelchair bound and so I have used different lifts . I worked 16 hours over night shifts so I spent most of my time at my clients home where I did a number of household activities that provided stimulation and learning everyday life. I became a caregiver because I enjoy helping others and making a difference in someone else's day and life. One of my personal achievements in this field are I helped one of my clients who was socially afraid and didn't like meeting new people. We worked together in conquering his fear of new people by getting out around the neighborhood going to the park where he met some neighbors of his.

I loved my clients . once they knew me ! They really got closer to me had some clients that didnt talk much ,,! But as we went along they felt albe to tell me anything they could ! . I felt that once I hot yo know them I knew when they we're not themselves !!

The ability to observe when something is wrong, good communication, patience, knowledge and a love for all things you do is what makes a great caregiver. I became a caregiver so I could live out my passion for helping people. I love that I have a chance to better people's lives. Just to see a client smile is what makes my job worth while. Seeing people struggle with everyday living and being able to help them overcome and achieve a better way of life is my greatest personal achievement. The rewards of seeing the smiles on their faces and the joy in their hearts is priceless.

I am a very easy learner, hard worker, and flexible. I am currently enrolled in school to become an RN, i enjoy taking care of elderly indivuals and have years of experience working with M.H.M.R individuals. I currently work part-time on weekends only from 11a.m-11p.m so I'm unavailable weekends, however, if i found full-time work that's stable i will be willing to consider taking on the responsibility and letting go of my part-time job.

Hello, my name is Melissa Barnes. I have been providing direct care services for over 20 years. I provide the best care possible by treating clients as thought they are part of my family. I am CPR and First Aide certified, also familiar with administering medication. I enjoy getting out of the house and showing my clients different things to do such as going to the movies and going to the park. I've been in health care for 16 years I've worked all ends of the spectrum from small Alzheimer's facilities to extensive assisted living communities as well as private duty care and in-home care I've been certified in medication administration, CPR blood sugar monitoring insulin wound care personal care and all other duties of a home care aide.

I've been a caregiver since 2007, and I love it. The main reason i became a caregiver is because of my grandmother and my best friends grandmother. They both had caregivers come into the house and assist them with showering, grooming, oral care, transferring and feeding. See those caregivers i knew that being a caregiver is something that i would love to do.
