I was raised by grandparents and that motivated to volunteer and teaching old people to read and write as I wanted them to have the opportunity to understand better it feels good being in control of your life and understanding what's going on so I wanted to give that to old people

What makes me a great caregiver is I love helping others and making them smile. I like hands on work. I'm very responsible, respectful and dependable. I became a caregiver when I first started caring for my grandma who had dementia. The bond you have with your client and the family when you are a great caregiver is a great feeling. I feel that when im older, I would want someone like myself there to help if I need help. Being a caregiver is more then a job, you are responsible for another person's well being.

At my last job I provided home care for 12-15 clients a week. I took on basic medical care, light housework, meal preparation, keeping clients company , as well as a range of administrative assistance. Most of my clients were typically 65-90 years old with a range of problems. I cared for clients with dementia , Alzheimer's and other health issues. Everyday I would assist clients with their daily needs. I Most of my clients needed assistance with pretty much everything, such as, bathing, toileting, walking, sitting or standing, eating, getting dressed, etc. As my experience has grown, as a highly competent caregiver I would bring a service-focused and hardworking attitude to this role. Why I am a great caregiver? I embody the word "care." I believe that I am in this world to be a great caregiver. I cared for six foster children after their mother lost her way and left them to fend for themselves. Their ages ranged from one to seven years old, and they lived with me for seven years. I helped build a home for them, and some of them still reside in that home to this day. As a caregiver, I am very observant and skilled in assisting with the health needs of the care recipient. Caring for others brings me contentment and joy.
