Hello, My name is Melody. I am a 18 yo freshman in college as well as a new caregiver and I am looking to gain experience as a caregiver.

I've worked in multiple settings in senior care like in memory care, home health, psych, and skilled nursing. I'm compassionate, focused, and organized. I am currently a student, at Sacramento City College, working on an associates in science in nutrition and allied health. The end result of my educational plan is directed at becoming a registered nurse I've worked with the public for over 20 years in retail but I was introduced to the nursing field by my Mom; at the age of 8. I grew up going to her clients homes, and talking to them as a child. In church and school, I would volunteer at the two skilled nursing centers in town. Working in skilled nursing was a great reminder of the dignity and love my Mom showed for her clients, and the happiness, and distraction, I provided for the older friends I made. I strive to provide dignity to all my patients, and to be their at any capacity I can. To provide the best possible care I can within my scope of practice. Thank you.

While it is true that caregiving can be a very demanding profession, both physically and emotionally, the personal gratification that comes from being able to help someone in need is the main reason why I still love being a caregiver. As a caregiver, I try to be compassionate, motivating, and understanding. A kind lady I have cared for once told me each day is a gift and what you make of it is your gift back. I try to use this as a type of personal motor. I love being a caregiver because kindness can go a long way in changing someone's day. It amazes me what a small amount of kindness can do. My personal pride comes from the fabulous children that I stayed home to raise, my husband whom I met over 30 years ago in high school, and the love that we all share.

I think its great way where you are able to help someone who can't help themselves and also you are getting paid. I'm really charming and fun going person and I don't take things to my heart easily. I live with my grandparents and I do believe I'm good at understanding senior citizens.

I provide 72+ hour skilled care. For more than 10 years I have provided care for those with diseases, illnesses and post-operative care up and down the Northern California coast. As a former news journalist, I am professional, well-spoken and research-oriented. I pride myself as being a knowledgeable and detail-oriented. I raised my four daughters myself- which gives me a depth of patience and understanding. I received my CNA in 2013.
