My name is Cathy, and I am a dedicated, mature and responsible caregiver. I graduated from the Home Health Aide program at Ashworth College with a 3.91 GPA. I initially trained to be a Home Health Aide to be able to better assist an elderly neighbor. I quickly realized how rewarding it is to help others, and through CareLinx, I have been able to take additional courses that allow me to better assist seniors in their homes. I am available for medication reminders, light housekeeping, meal prep, bathing, mobility assistance, and various other duties as needed. I am honest, kind and compassionate, and would love the opportunity to assist you in your home.

The reason I become a caregiver because I enjoy taking care of the elderly, sick, and handicapped. I enjoy making sure client are safe, healthy, and comfortable and will treat my clients and family members with respect. I started home health aide in 2000 and I have excellent letters of recommendation from clients and my past work history. I am dependable, honest, work well under pressure, I enjoy doing activities with my clients, and playing educational games. I have been during home health aide for over thirteen years and currently working with my current client. I am certified in American Heart Association, Licensed in under the DC Board of Nursing in Home Health Aide and also have a certificate in activities assistant. I took care of my sick mother until she passed away. Later, a friend introduced me to the field of caregiving. Though I had formerly been a school teacher, caregiving fit like a glove. A client once asked me why I chose this profession, and I told her that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I offer personal care, housekeeping services, and companionship. When my client was dying, I held her hand the entire time, not knowing that the daughter had entered the room and observed my action. After her death I received a note from the daughter describing how she had been touched by my action. As a former teacher, I am punctual, compassionate, empathetic, and sentimental; I laugh and cry with my clients. My current job involves caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. I have recently been providing a client with personal hygiene in the morning through CareLinx.

My son is disabled, and mother got early on-set Alzheimers, and went blind at 55. So I guess you could say Ive been doing this for a while. It never occoured to me this is what I love doing and why not make it a career! I love helping others. Im very involved in my community making sure seinors have food and resources. What makes me a great caregiver: 20+ years of experience, knowing how to get creative when things seems complicated, having a passion for what I do.
