Hi! My name is Kaila and I'm currently a nursing student at UTSA! My first healthcare experience was being an intern at Baptist Hospital for, then I followed with The Brooks of Cibolo as a caregiver/ medication aid. My current job is at Bella Groves as a caregiver/ medication aid. I'm very positive and outgoing, I love making people smile! Being there to help someone maintain their dignity and help keep their life as it was before is why I became a caregiver. I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.

I am a certified medical assistant, EKG technician, and phlebotomist. I am enthusiastic, honest, passionate , punctual caregiver. I am in the process of going back to school to finish my nursing classes. After I graduate and become a registered nurse, I am going to grow with a career that sees me as an opportunity to give compassion to the world. As I have a desire to go above and beyond to help people with their needs because I believe that I can make a difference. Not just by caring for them but being an advocate. Also, I am vaccinated!

I'm a very outgoing, energetic, athletic, fit person who is very compassionate and caring, someone who puts others before himself, a father of 5, 3 girls and 2 boys. I've been in the field over 10 years and have reliable references to support the fact. I enjoy being able to help others, with everyday tasks, getting back into the community, making home cooked meals, or just being there as someone to talk to. I've worked with seniors, developmentally disabled, dementia patients, and disabled veterans. I'm a well rounded individual with ambition, and experience in all aspects of the healthcare field. An added bonus is that I love to cook as well. My family and I moved from Denver to Florida just to experience life and it's been one of the best life choices I could have ever made. We've been here almost two years now, and look forward to connecting with families and making new friends.

Care for my grandparents before they passed away made me realize how much I love caring for the elderly. To be able to care for people like they are an extension of your family is how everyone should care for their clients. I am a proud Army vet and have a great attention to detail. I work hard and care for my clients as if they are my grandparents.

Caring for people is not a job it's a ministry. I feel that God has called me to this ministry to help people that cannot help them selves . I treat my clients how I would want my parents treated.

When I first became a caregiver, I knew it was the job for me- it was love for the job at first experience. Years later, what keeps me coming back is that this is what I excel in. I am a great caregiver because I am empathetic but I'm also strong. I know how to hold space for people, which is allowing them to have their feelings and be validated in a way that often helps diffuse and solve potentially problematic situations. I could work in many fields, and I have, but as a caregiver, I know how to make a real difference. I know how to listen, I know how to help, I know how to handle emergencies. Personally, I am most proud of being a quick learner-it's helped me in the most meaningful ways.
