Hi! My name is Kaila and I'm currently a nursing student at UTSA! My first healthcare experience was being an intern at Baptist Hospital for, then I followed with The Brooks of Cibolo as a caregiver/ medication aid. My current job is at Bella Groves as a caregiver/ medication aid. I'm very positive and outgoing, I love making people smile! Being there to help someone maintain their dignity and help keep their life as it was before is why I became a caregiver. I'm very proud of myself for getting accepted into nursing school and being able to call myself a caregiver that people trust with their loved one. **I can supply my resume if needed/requested

I am an extrovert, always smiling & seldom sit! If I can add a smile to someone's day or make them feel special, then both of us will have a rewarding day! I was a pediatric ophthalmology specialist in Canada; when we were transferred to the USA, I began a food manufacturing company. A friend approached me in 2015 to ask if I would help with their mum who was near vegetative status due to progressing dementia and being alone. Four months later, this beautiful Lady was walking, singing, dancing, and cooking with me - one of the most self-gratifying endeavors of my life. Now living in the beautiful hill country, retirement is not satisfying - I do volunteer at the VA hospital just to see these heroes smile, laugh & have someone to listen to them... and of course plenty of hugs! I would treasure being able to help another person find enjoyment in life. Hence, I am adding my profile here. *Dog lover yet terrified of cats! *COVID vaccine x2 by VA hospital. *Infusion by Peterson Hosp.

I was 15 years old and just started my freshman year of high school when I was placed in a class called Intergenerational Studies. For 2 hours each day I was taken to the nursing home called Golden Years there in Elgin, Tx. I started off just getting residents from their rooms to come and do activities with me. But it wasn't long and I was working side by side with CNAs, RNs, and at one point the DON had me shadow her for 2 weeks. I just got really interested and a few years after graduation and having my son, I pursued a CNA certification and was assigned the hospice hall and the "lockdown unit" which was occupied by the more violent patients and those with conditions such as Alzheimer's and/or parkinson's, as well as those with behavioral health conditions. I honestly just fell in love with everything about caring for the elderly. Even the hard and very emotional side of the care I provide is something I wouldn't want to stop doing. I would love to get my CNA back but just haven't attempted to do so since my husband passed in 2011. Since my high school days I have worked with all ages of people, from a 2 year old little princess to a 98 year old gentleman I referred to as Fred Astaire due to them looking like twins. He loved it and would smile so big when I walked in every day; and every day he would say "Good morning Ms. Judy (Garland). You feel like dancing the day away?" It's things like that for which I love my work. Please feel free to ask anything, I would love to tell everything now but there is just so much I've been blessed to have experienced with so many different people I'd never be done.

I'm a very outgoing, energetic, athletic, fit person who is very compassionate and caring, someone who puts others before himself, a father of 5, 3 girls and 2 boys. I've been in the field over 10 years and have reliable references to support the fact. I enjoy being able to help others, with everyday tasks, getting back into the community, making home cooked meals, or just being there as someone to talk to. I've worked with seniors, developmentally disabled, dementia patients, and disabled veterans. I'm a well rounded individual with ambition, and experience in all aspects of the healthcare field. An added bonus is that I love to cook as well. My family and I moved from Denver to Florida just to experience life and it's been one of the best life choices I could have ever made. We've been here almost two years now, and look forward to connecting with families and making new friends.

I started over 10 years ago at a local nursing home here in Fredericksburg, TX. I fell in love with how close you get to the patients like learning about their interests, hobbies & about their families they loved so much. I cared for each & every patient as if they were my own family. I love the sincere talks & the laughs & the time I spend with each & every single patient I worked with. I also learned alot from my alzheimer's & dementia patients. It's a day to day adventure that I welcome gladly. I have experience in hospice care as well as home healthcare. No matter where I worked I learned something from each place & each wonderful patient I had the privilege to come in contact with. Now I hope to be of some help to you to bring my patient & outgoing care to you.

I have a very kind and caring heart, I believe it does take a certain type of person to be in the care giving industry, its never easy not being able to do a "normal" human task and you want to make sure you have a reliable and helpful person to help you achieve such tasks. I enjoy helping others it makes my heart grow bigger knowing that I am able to help in a way that makes them happy and know that their is a person that will care for them, its the cycle of life.

I have worked with my aunt for two years as a volunteer at her company, it wasn't a big one, but I assisted with meal prep, medics to in reminders and I would set up equipment for the nurses when the caretakers had a check up appointment for the day. I love to help people. I currently take care of my grandparents on the weekends while my mother is at work. Sometimes I babysit for neighbors.I enjoy helping people because not everyone has someone to help them, so the time one can assist with that, it is always best to put your services to good use.
